On politics:
Politics above all, absolutely infuriate/annoy me. But, I can't help being dragged into them. I also perfectly understand the "but things are such a shithole right now!" logic. I am very much guilty of it, although a part of me is entirely pessimistic about my efforts. I've been called things like a "hippie" (especially one who doesn't understand econ) for my stance on corporations and capitalism. (oh, and these insults are likewise directed towards the econ teachers I (or others) have had). Whatever I may be, how people , or should i say, sheeple are blind enough to not see the evil in this shit is just beyond me. Then again, I was once one of them, and parts of that programming does remain... particularly in regards to consumerism. It's just sad.
On news:
My mm thinks one is stupid not to watch it. Watching the news does things to me. Firstly, I can pick-out easy the "same shit, different day" stuff, and the obvious bias towards any one side. (despite those saying they're unbiased...PLEASE...) Besides that, I'm real tired of "So, another completely preventable massacre happened today" or "Government still insists they need to spy" or "In light of recent events, we should ban violent video games and movies, and strengthen useless policies like Patriot Act and COPPA", etc... News is primarily doom and gloom. Every once in a while, something comes-up that's remotely interesting. The rest, I don't give a shit about, and I'd much prefer to not hear about. I also know I'm not getting the full story, but... hardly anyone believes me when I say the news is lying or not explaining everything to us. Oh, and another personal favorite: "this happened, we need laws to deal with it", and said issue by all technical definitions already SHOULD be illegal under some law, and it absolutely IS immoral and unethical.
