First up, just wanted to say a huge thanks to everyone who's contributed to TCRF over the years, and has helped to make it one of the most fascinating and enjoyable sites on the internet.

I was hacking the arcade version of Sega's WWF Royal Rumble recently, mainly to try hack and play as the bosses of the game, Shane and Vince McMahon. I was eventually able to (there's nothing very interesting about them, apart from the fact that Vince doesn't have a super move), but during my hacking I stumbled upon Val Venis, who I realised quickly was actually an unused character. I did a double take the first time I found it, as I couldn't believe this was unknown information. I never make discoveries when hacking, so this was something new for me. Once I tried playing as him, it confirmed that he was in fact unused, as he has barely any moves and usually freezes up during punches and even during some throws. It's strange that this wasn't documented before, but with Naomi emulation only having come to fruition in recent years I suppose it's not too much of a surprise it wasn't discovered yet. I've also heard that an unused version of Christian is in the Dreamcast port, but I can't confirm that yet, and I'll have to check it in the future.

Here's a few screenshots of Val in action:

And here he is in his victory pose:

I've also uploaded footage of him if you'd prefer to see that instead:

Hope this is interesting and helpful. There may well be other unused characters in the game, I don't know yet. It might be worth datamining for those who are capable of or interested in that kind of thing though.

That actually looks like it is Christian, the in-game model that is. Unless the face if Val's, that bits hard to tell.

Christian is also unused in the game, for some odd reason. Why they combined Christian's unused data with Val's character information I have no clue. Might be the first time I've seen two unused characters overlap in something. It's intriguing, regardless. As I said, I'll have a more thorough look through both the arcade and dreamcast versions in a few months time, and see if I can find anything else.

of an image; longer descriptions should be given with the
longdesc attribute which takes a URL linked to the description.

You are recommended to use CSS to specify the font and
properties such as its size and color. This will reduce
the size of HTML files and make them easier to maintain
compared with using <FONT> elements.

You are recommended to use CSS to control line wrapping.
Use "white-space: nowrap" to inhibit wrapping in place
of inserting <NOBR>...</NOBR> into the markup.
