This shouldn't be looked at like a "game" but more like a timed ride, though. Even the in-game music is fixed as one big track, since the events will always happen at the same point in time.

I'm rather surprised that only now has it been dumped. It's definitely an interesting footnote, but very clearly meant for little kids. Curious if Cosmo Fighter Galaxy Patrol will be/has been found. There's that Sonic popcorn machine too, but how useful is that with an emulator.

(Hint: A lack of anything to actually dispose popcorn ain't all that good.)

Probably as useful as the UFO catchers that are emulated. All the fun of playing the UFO catcher without the downside that is the prize.

VPinMAME does emulate a handful of crane machines, yes. Technically, many of these crane machines are actually just stripped down arcade machines or (more recently) embedded systems. Coincidentally, one of these machines was a Sega Pinball machine. Some of the ROMs for these crane machines can even be found online if you search hard enough (Pro-tip: You're more likely to find these by searching for "redemption game" than just "crane machine"). Honestly, crane machine emulation is about as worthless as the popcorn machine emulation. You'd be better off building one yourself or just getting your own for cheap.
