During the last years, I have been putting on weight... and I actually prefer it this way.

My face was always somewhat angular, weird, looked kinda like a lightbulb. The extra weight gives it a rounder shape which definitely looks nicer.

I also like the shape this gives to my body. Males typically gain more in the belly and chest, but I gain somewhat more in the butts and thighs. I like having a somewhat unusual form

Oh well. Have you guys had experiences with weight gain too? Personally, I don't want to become a morbidly obese blob either, but I wouldn't ever go back to being skinny with a lightbulb head.

i actually have been unable to gain weight! I've been floating around 125lbs for four or so years now, and I eat quite a lot of food (at times more than the rest of my family) (also i enjoy eating) though i'd be happy to at least get some muscle gain!

KLayout v3.1
I was, and still am, quite skinny. This is very noticeable on my legs and my arms. Since I almost never look at my body on a mirror, I was surprised by how noticeable it was.

For reference, last time I checked my weight some days ago I was 51 Kilos (112 lbs, if the kg to pound thingy works). I'm very close to the lower limit of a person with a normal weight.

Since I never put on weight, I don't know how much I would like that since I currently have no way to compare things.

In recent years I have turned into a tall, scrawny person with 20 pounds of belly flab that causes all my clothes to fit not quite right. Soon I'm hoping to start exercising a little and eating less crap all the time to try and turn it around.

(I'm 6'0" and ~190 lb, which isn't that bad on its own, but way too much of it is concentrated around my stomach/abdomen. I'm pretty bony otherwise.)

One thing I had read on a site about gaining weight, was to add atleast 600 calories to your normal calorie intake in order to gain weight. That was what I did a few years ago, and for a while it worked. I went from 60kg to 70kg (132lb -> 154lb) roughly, and then stagnated for a while.

Most of my recent weight gain came from summer vacation, though. I reached 80kg (176lb) last year, and 94kg (207lb) this year. I'm going to limit it to 100kg (220lb).

Gaining and losing weight is generally a matter of eating more or less calories than your "daily goal". Certain body conditions can always mess this up, though, but in general that's how it works.

Yeah. That's why yoyo dieting is a bad practice, too, it messes everything up and in the long run you end up obese.

also re: building muscle-- I have tried before, and nothing ever happened. I was probably doing it wrong, but as cool as muscle may be, I don't feel like getting myself into the mess that a real muscle building program can be. Much rather, you know, enjoy life.

In the early months of my stomach condition, I gained roughly 40 pounds in 3-4 months. The result?

I want to go back to at least my pre-condition weight, but it's hard to get exercise when my job and stomach condition are draining my energy.

When I was little I was super skinny, but I gained quite a bit of weight toward the end of middle school and would keep slowly gaining up until almost 6 months ago. At my most, I weighed about 170 lbs. (my height is approximately 5 feet 5 inches), so I was somewhat overweight. Started counting calories and have since lost 20 lbs. Before that I was only exercising, but that didn't really help at all until I began dieting alongside it. I haven't reached my goal yet, but I would like to maintain somewhere within 120 and 140 as I believe that is ideal for my height. I still feel that my arms and thighs are "too fat" (those are the parts of my body that have always bothered me since my weight gain), but I have noticed a difference in the way my clothes are fitting and I just feel better overall than I did before

The thing is that I CAN gain weight (I had apparently packed on 15 pounds sometime in the second semester of art school thanks to a vending machine diet), but overall my weight seems pretty hard set in the 115-125 range. Just a scrawny sack of skin and boooooones.

I weighed the same from the time I was 15 until around 23 or so. I had a pretty good metabolism, but then I joined the Army, and that's when my weight ballooned out of control. I'm certain it was a combination of stress, poor diet, and the generally unhealthy lifestyle surrounding the soldiering life, but also I'm sure my age had a bit to do with it. I'm starting to take steps to bring my weight back down, but it's tough because I used to be able to eat and drink whatever I wanted, and now I simply can't.

I find that if I stop drinking things that aren't water, I lose weight. Lot of calories sneaking around in juice.

Yep. The main reason certain diets works is more cause it forces people to think about how much they're eating, than necessarily helping in other ways.

and so far it works well, I don't even have to spend 5 hours a day doing sports or eat nothing but salad

woah, what a bump. is that almost a year?

i started being a lot more intentional w/ the type of food i eat lately. i tried paying more attention to my carb intake. it's been ok, but i've recently started getting really bored of carbs. i went to a cupcake place & just got tea. the idea of a cupcake really bored me. fries have bored me lately, too. and bread is the most boring of it all.

eating carbs used to feel exhilarating, like the culinary equivalent of a Triple Jump in Mario 64. but now it's mundane.

oh well, i'm saving money this way, too.
