Hi all, I have no idea if this is really the right place to talk about this or not, and if it isn't, just let me know and I'll delete this post.

I was playing through Pikmin for like the... billionth time today, and I played it for about an hour and then took a break. When I came back to play it again and started it up, the opening sound was completely different and SUPER creepy. Usually when you boot it up, the Nintendo logo in red pops up, with the sound of a Pikmin. I'm used to it always being the same so I wasn't paying too much attention when it started up this time with a white Nintendo logo and a very creepy, deep, Japanese man's voice saying "WEE-UU" in bad quality. I kind of just sat there for a second, then I started babbling to my sister about what I heard and how I was probably hearing it wrong. I restarted the Wii, and it played again like normal.

So I looked this up, sure I wasn't going to find anything and that I was just hearing things, and I totally found the opening that I saw!

This video claims that it is the "beta japanese" opening, yet I'm playing my US mass-produced game disk. Has anyone else ever had this happen, or perhaps found that sound clip in the files? I have never, ever heard of this and I'm very curious why it was in my game. It's very creepypasta-y hahaha.

It is probably just an easter egg, to be honest. At least one other game has had a "creepy" Nintendo sound (Luigi's Mansion). There are some records of other Nintendo screen easter eggs here: http://www.pikminwiki.com/Easter_egg#Nintendo_logo

The alt attribute should be used to give a short description
of an image; longer descriptions should be given with the
longdesc attribute which takes a URL linked to the description.
These measures are needed for people using non-graphical browsers.

For further advice on how to make your pages accessible
see http://www.w3.org/WAI/GL.
You are recommended to use CSS to specify the font and
properties such as its size and color. This will reduce
the size of HTML files and make them easier to maintain
compared with using <FONT> elements.

You are recommended to use CSS to control line wrapping.
Use "white-space: nowrap" to inhibit wrapping in place
of inserting <NOBR>...</NOBR> into the markup.
