Someone at assembler games recently dumped a prototype for the game Rockin Kats. If anyone here wants to check it out here's a link to the thread: https://www.assemblergames.com/forums/showthread.php?55428-Rockin-Kats-Prototype

Mirroring what I posted over there:

The differences between this proto and final are all graphical (ie. PRG is identical to final US, all differences are in the CHR). The proto is a mix-and-mach between the US and JP versions, with all differences between the proto and US final coming from the JP version, and vice-versa with the JP version. I'd say it's like a 50% localisation proto.

Since this is all about prototypes, I would like to hear confirmation regarding the whereabouts of a certain prototype.
It's a prototype of Super Smash Bros Brawl.
Appearantly, it is already older than the first two trailers, but still younger than the Sonic trailer. This is what I have found out:
*there are absolutely no references to anything related to Sonic whatsoever
*some Melee veterans finally use their Brawl voices, but not all of them
->such characters include Ganondorf and Falco
*some Melee veterans don't have functional Final Smashes
->such characters include Ganondorf
*some Melee veterans still use their original Melee renders
->such characters include Falco, Dr.Mario, Roy, Jigglypuff and Mr.Game and Watch
*Meta-Knight has half of his voices implemented, same with Pit
*Roy and Dr.Mario are actually in the roster
->however, Roy and Dr.Mario are only modelswaps of Marth and Mario, respectively
->announcer voice clips for them are still the same like from Melee
*Mewtwo is in the roster namewise, but it's just a Lucario duplicate slot
->Mewtwo doesn't even use his Melee render or annoucer voice clips, using Lucario's render and Mario's announcer voice clip instead, but with his name actually being displayed
*there is one empty slot, which makes you just play as Mario
->this could possibly either be the debug character or a placeholder for the infamous pra_mai character
*Wolf still has many Fox leftovers functional, such as Fox' rapid kick normal or Fox' voice
*Diddy Kong is playable, albeit with Dixie Kong (so the tag team idea was scrapped early on)
*there is no slot for Toon Zelda and Toon Shiek either, not even a placeholder slot, so they are probably scrapped early on as well or were simply not considered yet
*many of the later Subspace Emmisary levels are devoid of objects or even actual textures
*every Subspace Emmisary level is avaible right from the start
*the Mr. Resetti trophy pose is actually based on the Smash Dojo render, same deal with Lyndis
*some now unused songs are actually there
->the unused songs of the Mother series are mere rips of the original games
->the title theme of Mario&Luigi Partner's in Time was actually planned to appear in the game and not the boss theme from the same game
->neither Toadwood Forest nor Beware the Forest Mushrooms appear as songs, so the true identity of "MORINOKINOKO" is still unknown
->"Chosen Ones" is also just a direct rip of FE Monshou no Nazo

I might come back with more, but no promises. I mean, I'm not even sure, how true that is, because many things sound either very vague or suggest a different time line of implementations and cancellations.
I mean, why would they suddenly remove Roy and Dr.Mario, if they already have models which are compatible with the other character's animation files? And why did Roy and Dr.Mario had models, but not Mewtwo?

I sadly don't remember anymore, but it was probably multiple sources.
I do remember, though, that some of them came with a bad screenshot of the character roster, showing the weird stuff like Roy and Dr.Mario and Melee renders. Sadly, I cannot find that picture either...
Also, while a Brawl prototype is nice, I'm actually more interested in a possible Melee prototype, and whenever that one has the Fire Emblem stage playable or not. Sadly, there is absolutely no information about THAT, and that's the saddest thing to me (even if the Brawl prototype was real, the description makes it sound pretty meh anyway with the obvious exception of unfinished SE stages).
I would be glad, though, if someone could help me out with finding more valid informations anyway, so thanks in advance!

This doesn't really count as a prototype, it is just a mixture of different prerelease versions, not a single leaked version.

If that's the case, then how come that the screenshot showed up in more than just one resource?
If that screenshot really ends up to be true, then at least we would have a prototype of Brawl with the described character select (Roy and Dr.Mario being there and all, with no mention of Sonic).
At least, I would not totally rule that out. I'd rather just look at it very sceptical instead.

After reading through the post, I can't see any screenshot, which would make your argument slightly better.

Except that's not my argument, but arguments I have found somewhere in the internet.
And again, you can't see any screenshot, because I sadly don't have it anymore (must have accidently lost it after my notebook spring cleaning), and I cannot find the screenshot in the internet either.

Its very possible that a load of images were taken from one version, but it is not possible to be sure. Anyway this version is probably not leaked - the images were probably from straight from Nintendo.

Without meaning to come across as horrible, this sounds like absolute rubbish of the highest order. Where did you hear about it? Did somebody send you pictures & information? Was this posted on a website (reputable or otherwise)? Was it on some remote corner of the internet? How did you find this quite METICULOUS stack of information out, but don't remember where it comes from or have so much as a single picture to back it up? I hate to be so abrasive, but for a series as absolutely huge as Smash Bros, a prototype of any kind would be an absolutely humongous deal, but this is the first time I and many other TCRF members have even heard about it. This applies 100X more for Brawl - a game which has such an extensive modding community and penchant for fake rumours that they could conceivably fake anything and make it look convincing (remember the "Lucina on Outset Island" picture made using model hacks?). I'm sorry but until I get evidence of any kind (pictures that aren't bad hacks, website link, ANYTHING), I'm assuming this is just **** stirring.

I've read on the Wiki we have AoE prototypes. Pray tell, where can these be found? I'd be interested in helping fill out the Wiki pages. I love this game, even more than its sequel, though not as much as AoM.

All my searching is only turning up the archived webpage, or hits for the AoE Online stuff.

There's also a couple AoM protos on the betaarchive.com forum: the "Marketing Alpha" and the "Multiplayer Beta", one difference is that the former uses VBR MP3s for the music instead of a constant 128kB/s like the latter and the final game.

It looks like a unreleased prototype just got released into the wild, "Sound Factory". Known for being a scraped Nintendo Mouse game that was in development by Nintendo around the same time as Mario Pant as well a precursor to Electroplankton. Download to the ROM is here.

Unseen64 is claiming an early concept game has been dumped and released into the wild. It served as the basis for what would later become Star Fox, according to their story.

This is actually really old news, as it is the X prototype for SNES that was dumped and released by drx on Hidden Palace on September 17th, 2006.

The alt attribute should be used to give a short description
of an image; longer descriptions should be given with the
longdesc attribute which takes a URL linked to the description.
These measures are needed for people using non-graphical browsers.

For further advice on how to make your pages accessible
see http://www.w3.org/WAI/GL.
You are recommended to use CSS to specify the font and
properties such as its size and color. This will reduce
the size of HTML files and make them easier to maintain
compared with using <FONT> elements.

You are recommended to use CSS to control line wrapping.
Use "white-space: nowrap" to inhibit wrapping in place
of inserting <NOBR>...</NOBR> into the markup.
