I got forwarded this daft shit on Facebook today, through the "FunWall" app.

Attention all Facebook membeRs.
Facebook is recently becoming very overpopulated,
There have been many members complaining that Facebook
is becoming very slow.Record shows that the reason is
that there are too many non-active Facebook members
And on the other side too many new Facebook members.
We will be sending this messages around to see if the
Members are active or not,If you're active please send
to other users using Copy Paste to show that you are active
Those who do not send this message within 2 weeks,
The user will be deleted without hesitation to create more space,
If Facebook is still overpopulated we kindly ask for donations but until then send this message to all your friends and make sure you send
this message to show me that your active and not deleted.

Founder of Facebook
Mark Zuckerberg

Now, trying to explain to the guy who sent this to me is irritating. Do people REALLY think that Facebook is going to send out something like this via an application that not everyone even has installed?

Do they really think they're going to send out messages that have shitty grammar and spelling?

Do they really think that Facebook can't afford some more storage space / resources?

Do they really think that something like this wouldn't appear somewhere legitimate, like the Facebook Blog, or the mainstream media?

Trying to explain all this just gets met with stupid responses. Gah. Do people not think about messages they receive on their computers?

Tards.

These people are in the same population as the people who spread chain letters and email viruses.

I wonder how long it will be until we have a bash facebook comment.

Also, somehow I am IP banned from my home computer. So, I'm posting through my former university computer -- fixed by Xkeeper

Xkeeper here! I removed a huge, pointless quote.

I asked him if the next thing he was gonna tell me was that an Olympic Torch is gonna "burn" the "hard disk C:" of my computer.

I hate chain letters . Even one of my best friends won't stop sending them to me on MSN and when I get them from him I never send them to anyone else . This is probably the dumbest chain letter I have ever read though. People really need to put more time into proofreading stuff they put on the internet if they expect people to take it seriouslly.

Well, what do you expect from people?

And of course, a thing like facebook has money (does the site have ads? if yes- tons of money there)

I have intelligent friends. I have never received a single chain letter on facebook. But every now and then I do get invites to silly things like vampires, and whatever it's called. But it's not that often.

And yeah, the site has ads.

Ugh, chain mail.

I'd like to think my friends were more intelligent than that, but sadly, most of them aren't. It reminds me of the days of "You're going to have to pay for Messenger in 2006 unless you do this!" Claiming to be from the Microsoft Corporation. And people actually believed it. I forwarded one once with the title "this is bullshit. Don't believe it."

I also get the forwarded messages about dying babies and etc. "Every time you forward this, $2 will be donated!"

Retards.

You can miss some important stuff like that. A lot of the mail I get is forwarded, and not stupid(Mostly letting me know when stuff that I'm invited to/expected to be at are, I'd never remember without them). Aside, this is to be expected, people are stupid, it's not the internet, they just are.

Maybe, but I don't rely on e-mail so much as a means of communication. I can do it just fine with phone, IM or in person. E-mail is about as useful to me as snail mail.

Reminds me of a photo I saw a while ago that companies should really start putting on computers:

Then again, it seems like most people who use the damn things forget that there are buttons other than Forward on their inboxes...

Some people believe everything they find on the internet and forward the chain letter to all their friends and family without knowing the real truth behind the letter.

At least it's not some "u lose ur tru love (protip: high school crushes != love)" or "u lose ur life (I've got W-blue sky lives left. What should I worry abo--)" bullshit.

A couple of my friends on MySpace (actual friends, mind you. I'd rather not go into whore mode and "befriend" 200+ people I don't know for a mere number) tend to repost chain letters. One of them does it out of boredom. The other actually reposts said chains out of fear. Even after explaining how they must not be true, he still persists.

Let's just hope a guy doesn't get a notebook and knows your name and face.

lol, we work in a Help Desk. I believe that sign is relevant to our business.

One of my colleagues just made a sign up and put it on one of my "bosses" computers though. I am not going to be there for that.

But yeah, I don't do the chain forwarding of images or stuff much, but every now and then there's something I know would get a giggle out of us all, being Help Desk and everything...
