It makes some sense for that message to be there as Accend were trying to release games like Sango Fighter via Apogee at the time. Still, how did that end up in Raptor's data?

Also of note: Accend would also attempt Legend of Seven Paladins, which used the Build Engine.

There are three unused sound effects in Tetris Nintendo NES, including the possibility of two unused DPCM samples that seem suspicious like oscillating triangle volume controllers. More info tomorrow.

My guess is that Accend may have planned to sell Apogee's games in Hong Kong at one point, so they provided them with a generic anti-piracy message to include in their games.

The image is actually supposed to look like this. VGA used 18-bit color (6 bits per channel), so converting the palette directly to 24-bit made it too dark.

There are several stage oddities in Super Mario Land 2. Here's what I found so far by moonjumping.

Stage 1:
Has scroll properties.
The Goal Post doesn't actually proceed into the sky but rather cliffs off.

Space Zone Level 1:
The upper left scenary cuts off. There appears to be reighndears in the consolations.

I assume there are others strange instances of "nobody is ever going to see these stage anomalies.

Star X does in fact contain unused multiplayer screens and text. The problem is emulating the GBA link cable and codes at once. Guess I'll fiddle around with No$GBA for all usefullness.


There is also text for a sound test. Haven't figured out how to access either music or SFX yet.

Found more things with Tetris NES Nintendo sounds.

Super Mario Land 2 has a lot of stage oddities. I'd like to work on this before the other two though.

More stuff I noticed with Speedy Eggbert 2:

Apparently the (first) game was going to use AVI videos at some point.

Text inside the executable refers to a non-existant MOVIE folder and some non-existant AVI files. To accompany this, there's a "movie.blp" image which is completely black. It's was also one of the first things edited in the game. The last changed date is from the 16th December 1997.

Specifically, the game tried/tries to find:

movie\essai.avi
movie\win%.3d.avi
movie\play%.3d.avi

NOTE: %.3d refers to a (three digits?) counter. For example, one of the movies could have been named win000.avi, or play001.avi.

A disassembly from IDA shows more stuff:

I just found out that in the Game Boy Tetris, the programming exist which would allow yourself to name using letters. You can name yourself letters in the NES version and others. There is a problem that after selecting 0, garbage font appears so it was likely scrapped due to that reason. the font limit was changed from 00 to 0A.

Unfortunatlely, this is impossible to verify as programmer's intention.

Also, there are ? panels for additional vs mode mascots. Gamefaqs didn't have the cheat so I submitted it. You have to press and Hold Up, and press A for each player on the VS level set screen to be able to play as Bowser and the bosses.

Also found this graphical oddity. When the screen fades if using the SGB palette, you can see the remnants of that odd SGB tech demo attributes upon transitioning to the extra hard difficulty cheat screen from the the Hard difficulty ending. This appears to be an oversight.

Not very noteworthy, but a few out-of-bounds tiles in Pokemon Black 2 and White 2 seem to have snow properties during Winter. They're scattered randomly around some areas. I haven't checked them during any other seasons, though. It's been a while since I investigated it.

Updates on Tetris Attack GB:

There is a fully programmed Yoshi Stage 0 in VS COM mode. There is no event data that would jump this stage to the Lakitu stage upon completion.

If you change 02 to 03 (ame Genie code 03F-CEB-E62) it is possible to select SP.Hard from the VS COM difficulty menu. This might suggest that this difficulty was planned to be selectable normally without having to hold Up and pressing select (or whatever it was).

There is an additional panel that has placeholder 4x4 tiles for both stationary and clearing modes for the panel. At this point it would be stupid to speculate that this was planned to be the inverted triangle panel.

There are a few incomplete stages in the 1 player endless. Some of the graphics use placeholder tiles on the pirahnna plant stage, graphics are sort of incorrect on the koopa stage and the Froggy stage only has a few incorrect tiles. Kamek stage was not yet implemented at this point and where I assume it's stage ID would be loads an invalid location in memory. Bowser's stage has a few broken graphics.

Lastly, there are some unused graphics in the Game Over screen. Yoshi no Panel Pon has a different title screen than the International release. Guess what! The title screens for the International versions have an unused Yoshi sprite set that looks like it was ripped directly form Yoshi Island!

"I had the luck (and personally the honor) to meet the designer of Goin' Quackers, the Game Boy Color version.
He told me that there are some hidden beta levels, including a beta boss battle, which can be unlocked with some secret codes. Unluckily he doesn't have them anymore..."

Might look into the beta levels soonish. Until then, I think I found unused text in Link's Awakening. Set Set 01??73C1 then talk to the ocarina woman directly above the starting house to seduce her to say any text in the game. I have found what I believe to be unused text: 06, 09, 0B, 1B, 1D, 1E. Still haven't found the text that appears in the pre-release screenshot, though I'm sure it still is in the game.

1E is the only one I can't think of where it'd be used. Tracy's prices are usually in multiples of 7, so it makes sense for her, but does anything trigger that line?
