For real this time. (A tiny possum too)
Finding a new mammal species is pretty rare these days, and finding two at the same time is even rarer.

I'm amazed that there are rats that big in this world, even less in a basement .

That wouldn't be fun to run into
But you know, when I read giant rat, I thought 200-pound rat.

The un-earthing of new species is a really interesting topic I'd like to get into. It's things like this that's really amazing to me. I didn't know rats could even get to that size.

Oh great, it's huge and it's not afraid of humans.

Nice.

I think they're both kind of cute.

The rat only looks like a giant grey hamster to me, and fairly harmless in the picture ... but it's almost the size of a cat, seeing one for real would scare me a bit

I don't know why I put this here.
My sister was originally scared at the prospect, but she considered the giant rat cute based on the picture. Myself, it makes me wonder what other megafauna we will discover some day.

Screw that, I wanna see the megaflora. Imagine the look on your girlfriend's face when you give her a three foot rose! Or the grimace on your own when you accidentally grab one of its massive thorns!

I think the photo's sort of cute, and I guess I don't know if it's "friendly" or not really. I don't know if they have the giant rat sedated for the photograph or not.

I can't imagine a giant, angry, hungry rat that is not scared of people would be fun though. Like the Rodents of Unusual Size....

Another round?
Somehow I feel that it's not going to be long until those come into the pet markets.

...what?
