| https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WQnlsmbngdE I recently discovered this video of a BS F-Zero Grand Prix 2 stream ripped from nicovideo.jp. As you can see, there are two tracks I have never seen before, "Forest" and "Forest II". According to the description, an undumped Queen League exists in BS F-Zero Grand Prix 2 (which only had an Ace League, with Mute City V, Big Blue II, Silence II, Sandstorm and Sandstorm II) and upon searching on the net apparently another track called "Metal Fort" exists, according to comments about the stream, but no images or videos can be found about that. The ROMs of this game that can be found around only have the Ace League, but could this mean that unused data exist in the ROM, or in the original cart itself? EDIT: I have searched more and the mystery seems to be solved, I didn't know carts didn't exist for the Satellaview, but they were downloadable content. Along with the BS version of F-Zero (the usual tracks but playable with different cars) and the "sequel" (the one with the Ace League), some two other versions divided in weekly broadcasts exist: one is divided between week 1 and 4 have Knight, Queen, King and Ace League and have tracks from both the first F-Zero and the sequel, but in a different order. Dumped ROMs of these four leagues can be found separately (use the emulator SNESGT to play them: these games have a count-down system of choosing the cars and going forward in the menus, other emulators had problems in executing the count-down correctly, I noticed). The second version is the one showed in the video and it belongs to the "sequel" of the first four broadcasts. The one in the video is the first week, the second was once uploaded on nicovideo.jp but sadly the videos got deleted. Probably this second week had the "Metal Fort" tracks. Sadly, these two weeks can't be found anywhere yet since nobody dumped them as ROMs, I have seen lists of people trying to search for undumped Satellaview material but I suppose those flash carts with this content are very hard to find since they are old and Japan-limited and the language barrier is a problem, otherwise somebody fluent could see if some Japanese people still have those broadcasts and ask for a dump. So this is not exactly unused material, but simply stuff that has not been dumped yet, If someone is interested in searching for this material it would be great, though. |
