Note: if I look depressed on some of the pictures, do remember the outside temperature varied from -20C (-4F) to -40C (-40F) at the ice festival (and most of the time there was a punishing breeze blowing..). Any exposed skin hurts. Even the unexposed extremities felt like they were dangerously close to frostbite.

I figure it must be tricky to carve ice. Or do they use a special technique for it, like melting down unwanted parts?

I'm not sure, actually. Though I figure melting down unwanted parts while outside would leave a mess since it would probably freeze back immediately.

I remember when I just got off the train there, I felt snot deep inside my nose instantly freeze.... Never felt that before in my life

So, in a bit of stupidity I had earlier, I managed to break a part of my netbook's screen. I was fixing my brother's bed sheets and the netbook was on the floor. You can figure out what happened.

Unfortunately, I made things worse later once I found out about it.

I can't believe that I accidentally did that.

I'm looking at some code I wrote in high school.

I'm not actually interested in the code itself so much as the algorithm it implements (some sort of cross between the MDCT and the Hadamard transform), which it does using nothing but addition, subtraction, and recursive logic.

I have absolutely no idea how it works.

I just got 8GB (2×4GB) of DDR3-1333 RAM in my laptop. I've been told by a lot of people that the jump from 4GB to 8GB is inconsequential but I beg to differ. Everything loads faster now and Photoshop runs faster, even if I'm using Chrome and Word 2013 at the same time. Maybe it's because most people don't actually use memory-intensive programs but I feel like this could dramatically improve my photo/video-editing productivity!

I think my next goal is replacing the internal 1.8" HDD with a SSD. Maybe. Who knows?

So ages ago, I handed in the cathedral I made in UDK for marking. Got the marks back recently. 90%, which is 45% for the entire module, which is an immediate pass!

I also got a brand new computer! 240GB SSD, nVidia GTX 780 graphics, 16GB DDR3 RAM, soon to be 32GB, Intel Core i7 4770k. Took the build time of my cathedral from 30 minutes down to 4! Boots to the desktop in seconds and things launch before I can even take my finger off the mouse button!

Came just in time too. My previous computer developed a fault in 1 bit of RAM. Because random bluescreens are fun!

This month was pretty much hard. School has decided to make us do everything on April and May, so that's the main reason I couldn't do much here after I returned from Dublin.
The other reason: plain laziness.
