Brain Boy is coming in the mail, so that information may be merged with this depending on how drastically different the unit is in comparison to the Monster Boy.

Descrtiption: A clear casing resembling the Codebreaker unit. There is no compartment for a AAA battery allowing for rumble functions. There is a single button on the casing that says "COLORIZER", which when pressed would reset the unit loading the monochrome game as it were a GBC game. More information on this below

Features:
-(EDITOR) Memory specific editing for items, statistics, Pokemon and (other?) things? I do not currently have any Pokemon game to test this, only what I could find elsewhere on Bulbapedia.

-(MEMORY) Backup SRAM for up to 32 blocks (1 block per game? Appears so from what I tested and the saves already saved to the unit). Can save SRAM for any game, not just Pokemon)

-(COLORIZER) Allows all monochrome games to support GBC palettes for sprites, foreground and sprites. Custom palettes can be saved. How well does this work? Well I only tryed it with Battle Arena Toshinden and so far it works, the only issue is garbage with CHR upon loading new CHR. Needs to be tested with other games.

-(BLAST OFF) Two settings; ON and OFF for each option. Double Speed and Palette update. None of these seem to make any difference whatsoever. Again, needs to be tested with other games.

If you press the "COLORIZER" button while a GBC game is inserted, the game will reset to the BIOS where you can set palettes as if it were a GB game. If you press the button again on the "COLORIZER" option, the game will reset to the BIOS with the message "turn game off" in place of the Nintendo bitmap ultimately hanging there indefinitely as expected.

Conclusion: A very neat device if the backup saving is cheaper than a Mega Memory Card, buy it. The "COLORIZER" feature is also and odds-and-end and must have for all GB players using a GBC. Cheaters in Pokemon games may also bite. Very cheap also.

BLAST OFF only seems to work using Super Mario Land and I have no idea what "UPDATE PALETTE" does, if anything.

Bonus: Tetris SGB Palette: BG: 31 30 16, 20 27 31, 31 21 00, 00 10 18 (SPR1 and 2)

Status: Currently undumped.

Monster Boy Information:

1. The Monster Boy Label is Purple as opposed to beige.
2. A slightly downgraded version from the Brain Boy. Pokemon Generation II is only compatible with the editor.

Keep in mind. I have seen a few label colour variations for both Monster Boy and Brain Boy. This might indicate BIOS revisions?

Blast off only seems to work with Super Mario Land, playing at double speed. It is unknown what "UPDATE PALETTE" sets because there are no differences near as far as I can see.

Status: Currently undumped. Again, if you have dumping capabilities, please feel free to contact me.

Are you sure of this? Have you tried any games that showed slowdown in the original Game Boy?

Some games might behave differently when the system is overclocked, like old PC games.

I have tryed Tetris and a few other titles. This seems minimalistic and I'm sure this is because some games would require more CPU than the VBLANK hooking can allow, or maybe Pelican has an internal database for games that cause frequently in double speed mode. This needs to be examined.

My guess is "Blast Off" switches the CPU into double speed (8mhz) mode, which has little effect because most games' main loop looks like:

waitForVblank();
doGameLogic();

and since changing the CPU speed doesn't change the video refresh rate, the game logic still runs at 60hz. The only effects you'd notice are shorter loading times and less lag. I had tested this with a few games by manually hacking a routine into them that switches to double speed mode, and the results are as expected.

It's a bit strange that it actually speeds up SML, but I guess it's not the best programmed game out there. (V1.0 actually turns off the screen during rendering, which the dev manual warns can damage the screen!)

For further advice on how to make your pages accessible
see http://www.w3.org/WAI/GL.
You are recommended to use CSS to specify the font and
properties such as its size and color. This will reduce
the size of HTML files and make them easier to maintain
compared with using <FONT> elements.

You are recommended to use CSS to control line wrapping.
Use "white-space: nowrap" to inhibit wrapping in place
of inserting <NOBR>...</NOBR> into the markup.
