Navi's Trackers is a Zelda game relatively unknown in the US and Europe. It is only available in the Japanese version of Four Swords Adventures for the GameCube. The game has probably never been a search in the game data.

I just found a good copy of the game, because the one I had since 3/4 years has been a bad dump. Most game files had only "00" everywhere, the game was not going to work.

So I started this morning research on the game Navi's Trackers and I found strange images. I think it would be a prototype version of the game, but that was not a Zelda!

There is a Map Select very similar to The Wind Waker, but largely shorter. I try to run it, but I have not succeeded yet. There is also a Sound Test which is used from the Map Select.




I also found the old logo of the game that had the name "Tetra's Trackers" in 2003 before being renamed later.

Purple icon has a slight upward shift.









The strange images...





A map in four parts, it seems under construction... This is the case of the fourth part, which is completely empty.





I still know very little of what Zelda, I'll try to play to find out that there are other unused objects/images.

Does it even run on Dolphin?
If so, and the one on the net is a bad dump, what's the size of the compressed iso? Or the MD5 checksum for the full iso? I always found it suspicious the JP version was smaller than the European one.
While it can emulate GBA support for the first two modes, it's not possible for the third one (the emu crashes as soon as that single line of text before the video is shown). At least, that was me trying it months ago.

I don't know if that third map picture is really unfinished? It looks like the empty area would be completely unreachable anyway, so they might have just not bothered to fill anything in there beyond where the camera could scroll.

After some quick Google searches, here's some things that I found (draw your own conclusions):

In this interview, Marvelous is brought up by Aonuma after being asked (I presume) on what influenced Navi's Trackers.

Lastly, don't these pirates look similar to some other pirates?

These are some interesting finds. It makes me regret not playing FSA yet. I kind of hate how Navi Tracker's is a Japanese exclusive though which means I will probably never play it :/.

For the record it's a Zelda clone that was Eiji's first project, released on the Super Famicom with two BS-X add-ons. It was quickly forgotten, not even honored with a VC release like, say, Sutte Hakkun. Tingle 2 DS still ripped-off the idea.

You play as three boy-scouts with different abilities, and the leader with the red hat when you start the game is Dion (the one on the mugshot). That lady is the instructor, which is the damsel in distress for the first hours in the game.

The maps you showed are very similar to those playable in the BS-X Athletic Dai-1 episode (or maybe something from the prologue in the retail game?), but my memory has been hazy so I can't tell exactly. That unfinished area isn't supposed to be accessible in game, to the right of it is your starting position for that level.

Also, that third strange image is リザルト (RESULTS).

Always thought the top-down game style with collecting tokens, with timed events not unlike in BS-X games, and even the art style in the GBA screen, felt more like a different game with "Zelda" slapped on. Still, didn't expect it to be Marvelous SFC!

Yeah I'm a bit late. Maybe if I'm super lucky he'll respond sometime. I hope so because I really want to use the Map select and sound test!
