Interactive Multi Game Demo Disc 27 has an early version of Mario Superstar Baseball, only called "Mario Baseball", and it pre-dates the final game by seven months. The demo disc was released on January 1, 2005, and the final game was released in Japan on July 21, 2005.



Unfortunately, the entire game is in a file called "ZZZZ.dat" and I can't open it. Same with the final. I'm sure there's plenty of unused content and stuff that isn't in the final game. There's gotta be a way to get it all out.

Probably a dumb idea, but did you try opening ZZZZ.dat in a hex editor? There's got to be some kind of header we can use to figure it out, or at least text.

Now that I think about it, I recall another game (was it Strikers?) also had a ZZZZ file or something similar.

I don't want to check it at the moment since I'm at work, but if it's the site I'm thinking of, there's some huge shitty DOWNLOAD NOW!!! banner ad at the top of the page designed to distract you from the much smaller actual download link somewhere further down the page.

Anyway, I can check it out when I get home later today and see what I can glean from it.

Unfortunately, I don't recognize the header at all, so I don't know if it's even compressed or not. At 150 MB, it is certainly big enough to be uncompressed, but who knows. I couldn't find any text in it, but I do spy what looks like image data neat the end of the file, starting around 0x92ECA30. There is definitely something there, but none of the tools I have are capable of extracting it.
