Some time ago, I looked into those demo discs, and as far as I remember there are some GBA games to check out like the beta Kirby and the Amazing Mirror demo already on the wiki, a video with Biohazard 3.5 footage https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dhH-z15hDMc (I've uploaded other videos from demo discs on the same Youtube channel), interesting .h4m videos to be recorded on real hardware (they don't work on dolphin or Youtube), there are some .h4m Mario Sunshine TV Japanese Ads with beta footage, .h4m DS early line ups and more(?)...

Demo discs contains .sfd, .thp and .h4m videos. The first and the second format can be uploaded on Youtube that converts them, the last one can only be played on real hardware (Wii and GC). I can't record on my TV, if anyone can, please record those .h4m videos.

Also have one of the European demo disks that I believe is undumped.vI'll try to get my games and stuff next month.

I'm interested into those demos, also I'd like to get and analyse that undumped disc.

There's this h4m player, but it only works on GameCube/Dolphin. I'd be interested in the early DS line up videos.

Two things:
1) I didn't realize there were so many GameCube demo discs.
2) Is http://pastebin.com/xx5W2Xef a list of what's on each NTSC-U demo disc? If so (and this is just my own curiosity at work here), why isn't the publicly-released Preview Disc (DL-DOL-D87E-USA) included?

In any case, I have the Preview Disc but no idea how to access its files (my computer acts like it's an empty finalized disc, and putting it into my brother's laptop didn't work either). I was wanting to extract the ROMs of the downloadable GBA games.

(NOTE: I am not asking for ROMs since I'm pretty sure that's against the rules, if not illegal.)

Most DVD drives cannot read Gamecube (or Wii) discs, and those few that can require special software.

If you do want to read the disc, you're best bet would be Wii homebrew.

Once you have a copy of the disc, you'll need special tools to access the filesystem. I haven't been digging around in Gamecube games, so I don't know what those would be. I'm sure someone else here can help you out.

@WarioBarker:
Dolphin, the GameCube/Wii emulator has this ability. Simple, does the job. Also see wiifuse, which can mount ISOs as a read-only filesystem. Haven't used this, so I can't say much on it.

To add onto this, if you want to rip apart Gamecube ISOs and look into their file system, you can use GCR. It is a great tool as you can extract files from the ISO, replace files in the ISO and rebuild the ISO. It was an indispensable tool when I was trying to find unused materials in The Wind Waker. It shouldn't be too difficult to use but you can ask me questions if you want help using the tool.

I have no idea how to look inside a Wii ISO so I can't help you there.

Just checked it, the demo contents are:
Soulcalibur II
Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg
Viewtiful Joe
Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell
Sonic Adventure DX: Director's Cut
Warioware inc: Mega Microgame$ (GBA Download)
Dr. Mario (GBA Download)

It is worth mentioning that I've had trouble with GCR extracting some SystemData files for the Metroid Prime games, so I had to extract them using Dolphin to rebuild it. Not an issue if you're just looking through the filesystem though. I assume you could just use Dolphin to extract Wii game files as well.

I didn't know about this, but I'm guessing there were stand alone demo discs of every Jak and Daxter game. Does anyone know any details about them? The only information I can get about them is from redump.org. Here are the EXE dates:

1.) Jak & Daxter NTSC-J Demo - 2001-09-20
Jak & Daxter NTSC-U Final - 2001-10-30
Jak & Daxter NTSC-J Final - 2001-11-03

2.) Jak 2 PAL Demo - 2002-07-17 (WTF? Error?)
Jak 2 NTSC-U Demo - 2003-03-04 (Another error? This is pretty early. But more likely)
Jak 2 NTSC-U Final - 2003-08-26
Jak 2 PAL Final - 2003-09-17

3.) Jak 3 PAL Demo - 2004-09-10
Jak 3 NTSC-U Final - 2004-09-30
Jak 3 PAL Final - 2004-10-07

If I recall correctly, there was a NTSC-U demo of the first Jak game, but it was given away for some promo for Cingular Wireless. I don't know if the date is earlier than the NTSC-J demo though. I have no idea what's up with Jak 2. The dates on the demos are extremely early. I can't find an ISO anywhere for any of the demos either.

Does anyone have any of these?

@AttackedbyGlitch
A lot of interesting Nintendo development materials here. If I actually had money to drop, I would try to get the GameCube debug console. That copy of Zelda II though seems to be a rip off. I don't see what is special about it. It doesn't appear to be an actual prototype (despite what the page says) since the page claims it was released in 1988 which is after the Japanese release. It seems like their selling point (which isn't much of one) is that it was graded by the VGA. The only thing that appears to set it apart from any other NES cart is the label which looks like it was written in Notepad and slapped on. Honestly, even if it was an authentic prototype of Zelda II, a $10,000 price tag is tough to justify but the fact that it isn't really a prototype makes the product look like a scam and the seller a scammer.

Anyone else have opinions?

VGA grading is a huge scam. You can always expect it to add several thousand dollars to what would otherwise be a sane price. I certainly hope it's not driving down the sales of non-graded items, because I have some CIB games I'd like to sell someday, and I'd rather not give those bastards one red cent for a shoddy plastic box and meaningless certificate of "authenticity".

That Zelda II cart probably is a real prototype...but it's a prototype of the PAL version (and probably the final one at that), which makes it about as unique and exciting as a bag of rocks, and worth nowhere near $10K.

I can agree with this although I feel hard pressed to call it a real prototype. One can say it is an early PAL version of the game but I don't consider that an actual prototype of the game. A bag of rocks describes it pretty well .

The only possible interest in a prototype like this, it is possible debug mode enabled. Otherwise, a PAL version has no interest and many prototypes are PAL version unfortunately... Buy this type of prototype as expensive, you must be crazy!

For the prototypes of Zelda I and Zelda II, it is better to have FDS versions, but this is extremely rare...

Looks like someone released a June 2010 beta of the Xbox 360 Splatterhouse on PirateBay. I can confirm this one's legit, though rather nice for it to pop up *after* I forked over money to secure a copy of it...there's still someone seeding it so would be best to snag while we can, no?

Just to be on the safe side, not linking to it incase that's against Jul's stance, but can be found easily by searching for "Splatterhouse Beta".

The alt attribute should be used to give a short description
of an image; longer descriptions should be given with the
longdesc attribute which takes a URL linked to the description.
These measures are needed for people using non-graphical browsers.

For further advice on how to make your pages accessible
see http://www.w3.org/WAI/GL.
You are recommended to use CSS to specify the font and
properties such as its size and color. This will reduce
the size of HTML files and make them easier to maintain
compared with using <FONT> elements.

You are recommended to use CSS to control line wrapping.
Use "white-space: nowrap" to inhibit wrapping in place
of inserting <NOBR>...</NOBR> into the markup.
