Seconded. While I'm not an Lufia 2 expert at all, I'm still rather happy that the unmoddified prototype got released.
Now, if we only could get the Metroid 4 Prototype, I would be the first one to do comparisons, since I'm a big Metroid fan.

Dunno if anyone already dug into debug stuff in this version yet but: the debug flag is the same (use the PAR code 7E057CFF, I didn't bother figuring out how to enable the actual button activation/deactivation like the article mentions because I just wanted to take a peek)



Build date / PPU version display is replaced with some hex dump (I didn't bother finding out what it is yet). The rest of the debug menu looks the same.

Also a few other differences:
- press Start to access debug instead of Start+X
- no dash/WTW with B button (on either locations or the overworld)
- controller 2 doesn't do anything in locations
- no "battle debug" mode as such - Start freezes and Up+L exits (not Up+R), but that's it
- no L+X button bonuses on the menu
- only need to press A to use the airship, not A+B

There are a few things I didn't check, but there you go

Some good info that got buried in the Assembler thread:

There are some invisible exit tiles that trevormacro found during his playthrough: 1. on the world map, there's an entrance to an unused town in one of the mountain ranges near the beginning and 2. outside Tia's shop in the water just above the bridge (use debug WTW) is a debug tile that warps to near the end of the game. Walk behind the tree outside Tia's shop to add her to your party.

Sinrevi did a comparison of the songs, most have changes and four of them are unique to the proto: 0C "PANICK", 0E "SORA", 30 "WAKARE 2", 31 "SERENA". They were replaced with "DAMY" (dummy) placeholder files in the final. Songs 37-3E don't exist in the proto. Use Pro Action Replay code 82DD3Bxx to replace the load screen music.

Debug mode notes:
Select + Start + Y to enable, L + R to disable. A sound confirms the on/off switch.

In battle, you begin with options Switch, Attack, Run Away. The Switch icon acts as a debug instant win (mirror input is up + L as Devin posted above) Unknown if the true switch command programming is still present, or maybe it wasn't implemented yet.

WTW is Y button instead of B, and adds a trailing fire animation while running.

On the overworld, the debug mode programming checks if flying/underwater or sailing/walking, but the subs it calls for each are empty (just a 60 RTS command)

Other:

It looks like the maps have internal IDs like the songs, needs to be investigated
