I can check it out on the debug ROM, but I think Cutscene 01 just crashes.

Well I know you can check it out on the debug ROM . I want to know if it is possible to access it in the 3DS version.

That tells you that they used the original OoT source code, but doesn't tell you whether they adapted it to work with the 3DS hardware (likely) or did something like Animal Crossing and tried to make the N64 SDK functions work on another system without modifying the actual game program (unlikely since the textures are all much higher resolution).

Don't forget the middle point, where they could have recreated the N64 functions, but then modified them to be able to support new formats. Seems like the easiest way to go around it, especially given how low-level OoT seems to be it's probably calling SDK functions all over the place (good luck trying to rewrite that).

Well, if the levels and scenes are magically the same, we can! There's a really small chance though, it seems very unlikely, unless it is calling N64 functions all over the place (which seems a bit more likely due to the software issues of the game). They do have the required files for it too.

When I say access it, I mean accessing it using a glitch like the Wrong Warp glitch since there are no other ways to currently modify the ROM and run it.

Don't forget, if someone'd be willing to extract their game (3D Brew has file extractors up for most things now on their site), we can see how similar or dissimilar it is. We could stumble onto even older, or newer test levels. The one thing that boggles my mind is why they didn't use Link's body adaptive shadow for OoT 3D, since it goes unused in the original. It would've been a nice touch, and a few beta stage screenshots have it, or is it the A-B reversed stage of OoT's developement? Our issue with extraction though, is that we can only access the SD card, so only the downloadable version, not the cart will work. I have the cart, so I can't do it.

The cart versions (USA, Europe, Japan, and Taiwan) have all been dumped by scene groups. If you were to extract the download version from your SD card, it is encrypted with console-unique keyslots which are stored in the NAND partitions in the encrypted flash memory. The problem isn't with getting a binary version of the game (ROM), it is with the fact that the 3DS is armed to the teeth with encryption.

Perhaps it is just me but I think it is interesting how Nintendo is boosting up the security compared to the original DS. I don't think it nearly had as much security. It seems that creating emulators and trying to create homebrew for the 3DS is going to be much more difficult, especially since they can patch the 3DS with software updates.

The 3DS is quite difficult to hack into by itself, but it also has around a ten layer security chip. The SD data seems to be not way too difficult to get into, but modifying it is not really possible. It's got something that just won't let things change.

Typically the game gives me an "error has occured" or went to map that has 3 different materials, and water somewhere in middle, on a black screen. Now, in Mountain, trying to do the same thing caused a crash that didn't go to the home menu, but a black screen and on the bottom screen it said

"An error has occured.
Hold down the POWER button to turn off the power, then turn it on and try again.

For help, visit support.nintendo.com."

I've never seen this screen while wrong warping although I'm not surprised by it. Eventually someone would be able to use the glitch to really break the game . Speaking personally, I am interested in trying to load Zora's Fountain (09), Cutscene 01. I don't know if it is possible with wrong warp though which sucks since I think that is an interesting unused area.
Cuber is right, there's a lot more to that glitch than what you are doing right now. This glitch works like "Beta" Quest and is called Death Hole Wrong Warp. By killing yourself in the right way or doing the Ocarina Items glitch, you can open the bottom menu and use Farore's Wind. With it you can warp to unused scene setups that exist in the console version.

The cutscene where you warp is always 0. If you warp into areas that have scene setups the game "black screens" its not known why this happens but in this state moving is weird. You can regain visibilty by throwing a deku nut, warping away with a warp song or entering a Cutscene (the latter exiting the "DH" warping mode) your magic doesn't work and trying to use anything to replenish it crashes the game. The fact that the exact same scene setups still exist means that its the same game, unlike some "remake with glitches put back in" like every fucking person says. It's just a some cheap way they try to fool people with, that somehow seems...to work... With this glitch you can get 2 Heart Pieces, one in the graveyard and one in Jabu Jabu. I also have videos of both and more stuff if anyones interested.

Thanks for the Deku Nut tip, I'm now finding out exactly where I'm ending up now. I'm assuming the reason for my crashes was due to the fact some areas don't have cutscenes then, but why do grottos work in wrong warping if you're in cutscene 00?

Do you mean when you exit the grotto? It works because the grotto exit is the last entrance you used. For example if you leave the fire temple and do Death Hole in the same area and then exit the grotto you end up in Forest temple. This same thing can be done by setting a warp there and then using Farore's Wind in the Lakeside laboratory/grotto without exiting the place.

You can also play warp songs to warp to different places. Only Requiem, Nocturne and Bolero work, the other ones crash. Bolero takes you to the child Hyrule castle near the milk boxes, Requiem takes you to Desert Colossus and no actors are loaded, Nocturne warps you to the Ganons castle collapse. After playing a warp song, the next thing you do exits the DH mode. Avoid going to the Desert fairy fountain though, it crashes.

It would be cool if we can explore these games with some programs later to research Death Hole and to find some old graphics like the ones used in early screenshots and NFR 1.

I swear that some parts of Dodongo's Cavern might have older textures loaded. I might be wrong though.

I forgot to mention that the 3DS returning to the menu saying that an error has happened was actually put in later. The update that did it was something like 4.0.0-7.

As did I. Either way, the game would've just froze and it's a real pain to turn off like that.

The alt attribute should be used to give a short description
of an image; longer descriptions should be given with the
longdesc attribute which takes a URL linked to the description.
These measures are needed for people using non-graphical browsers.

For further advice on how to make your pages accessible
see http://www.w3.org/WAI/GL.
You are recommended to use CSS to specify the font and
properties such as its size and color. This will reduce
the size of HTML files and make them easier to maintain
compared with using <FONT> elements.

You are recommended to use CSS to control line wrapping.
Use "white-space: nowrap" to inhibit wrapping in place
of inserting <NOBR>...</NOBR> into the markup.
