| What would be interesting is if someone got the Debug ROM to use ALL of the Japanese/American V1.0 content. It is old news, but why not see about this? |

| I tried to change the PAL content to the US content myself on a copy of my ROM. I gave up, since my American ROM's dumped files were number IDs that made no sense, so I only replaced one room in that copy of the ROM. It was the room in Dodongo's Cavern where you need set off all of the bombs to knock down the staircase. Either way, that proved it's possible, if you've got a million hours to spare with an old version of Utility of Time. |

Interesting, I knew you could switch the English version into Japanese, but not the other way around. I guess that's not too surprising seeing they were released one day apart. So I wonder what all is different between English and Japanese versions? Maybe just that one flag?____________________ |

>>ESTABLISHING LINK...DONE. >>FETCHING POST DATA...DONE. >>EXECUTING POSTDISP.BIN... Looking purely at the dumped binaries - in this case, the US v1.2 in GoodN64 and a selfmade JPN v1.2 dump - the country byte in the header at 0x3E is all that differs between them. Can't say if there's anything in-game, besides obviously the game text, HUD, menu textures, etc., that changes depending on the language. It's technically possible, but I don't think anyone's ever looked into that. ____________________ |

| The only difference I know is the one that used to be on the wiki page until someone removed it. Inside Ganon's Castle, the music that plays that you are near an enemy is disabled for the American version specifically - the Japanese version plays that song like in all other areas. |

| Uhh... I find this extremely odd, but my build date and time is 98-10-26 10:58:45 My cartridge has been labled as a V1.1 (you can tell by the imprint on the back, if it has only 2 characters, it's 1.0, 2 characters and an A is 1.1, and 1.2 has a B). The music bugs me to death though, it kind of just ruins the whole Ganon's tower feel. It plays regular enemy music after being hit by Iron Knuckles and plays while Ganon's tower is collapsing. Is it possible that 1.1 was based off the Japanese 1.0's coding, just with English as the language? |

That build time indicates that your cartridge is version 1.1. (This screenshot should match what you see.)
USA 1.1 is byte-for-byte identical to Japan 1.1. The only difference is the region setting in the ROM header. If the music behavior changed at all, it probably would have been between versions 1.1 and 1.2. ____________________ ふにゃあ。 |

| The Iron Knuckle thing is a bug. It happens in other places too (like the Spirit Temple). Not sure about the other thing though. It makes the whole thing extremely mysterious. I hope it's not one of those "changed and then changed back" things like in Majora's Mask. |

| If you need an easy way to crash and you're good at seam walking, jump into the void with a bombchu and tap Z + R. And I've got a V 1.0 ROM, the music is the same as on the Gamecube, Wii, 3DS... My cartridge is different from those with the music. |

Originally posted by omega59 I'm a little confused. Your cart's stamp matches the V 1.1 build, doesn't it? BTW, I always had a random glitch and wondered if this happened for anyone else? Sometimes, the cutscene music for pulling the sword out of the pedestal/ putting it back in to travel through time would cut out instruments. Random bug?

| Yeah, my cart's a 1.1, even my debug screen says so, along with the stamp on the back label. And check what build you have, look up Zelda Chaos if you need help. It's in their Ocarina of Time glitches section. |

Maybe you guys can help me figure out whether I've happened on an odd region difference.
What byte does US Master Quest use to decide language? (GC AR code is in the above link) Unless I'm being an idiot the CZLE / CZLJ header hack appears to only work on Japanese. A picture of that result. ![]() |
