This site is definitely not as good as having an actual job in terms of making money, but it's definitely better than signing up for dozens of survey sites and only qualifying for one fifty cent one in a week or two. Essentially, sign up, listen to music from bands that haven't been signed to a record company or w/e yet, review tracks and make money. I don't think I got less than five cents for a review, though I know a lot of my reviews go between six and ten cents, and one netted me as much as fourteen cents. There's even a refer a friend option that gives the referrer ten percent of the amount a friend makes in a review (Two cents for a twenty cent review, one cent for a ten cent review, etc.), so if you're interested in signing up, PM me your email address so we can both benefit.

Yeah, it does sound weird, but it seems pretty legit. Plus I'm starting to get really sick and goddamn tired of signing up for survey sites and only getting one or two surveys a month for like fifty cents each if I'm lucky.

You're not going to make money off the internet unless you build something amazing

(To that point, TCRF does not make enough to cover its bills )

That line by itself kind of worries me. From what I have seen, TCRF is a great medium to post findings compared to other sites. With the amount of material that is on the site(and growing), it would be scary to see it all disappear because it can't support itself. Perhaps I am putting my nose where I don't belong but how does TCRF generate money? Is it only through donations and ad revenue? Would it help if more people knew about TCRF? Have you thought about creating a YouTube channel specifically for TCRF similarly to how you created a Twitter and FB page?

Much like this website and all of Rusted Logic in general, I pay anything that [Donations/Ads] doesn't cover. Given the ad revenue is basically $0.50/day my share is often about 50-80% of the bill.

Rusted Logic itself is paid every two years and costs about $200 + about $50 a year in domains.

I haven't considered it. TCRF's popularity falters because we're not a memetic page like DYKG; we exist to be a resource and aren't spewing out little tidbits of random crap in images... The FB and Twitter thing is my attempt to steer towards it, but even then a lot of what you see with DYKG is the images being shared and not the pages themselves, which defeats our purpose. Most of the content for a game won't fit into a pretty image.

Could it be possible to make something similar to DYKG, like a Youtube channel for TCRF? Unless we're already doing that. But even then, it'd be too easy to be called a ripoff, wouldn't it?

I can agree with you there.

Well I would argue that some of their images aren't necessarily pretty to look at. If the fact you want people to know about is simple then you can do images like here and get away with it. However, if your fact is more complex, the image starts to look too wordy like here and here and it looks messy in my opinion. In cases where the facts aren't little tid bits of info then you would need another medium to express the facts. For DYKG, that seems to involve making a YouTube video about a bunch of facts or getting the facts posted on its sister site vgfacts.com. In the case for the latter, I am not too impressed as I feel that TCRF is a much better medium of expressing such facts(I could express why I feel that way but that is another topic). In the case of the way DYKG makes YouTube videos, I feel that their videos have the potential to age. In other words, they will state a fact that will later turn out to not be the whole truth. A simple example of this is in their Zelda part 2 video at 4 minutes and 24 seconds for the voice clip of Jabun. They state that the voice clip is unused and what it could have been used for(This was once written on TCRF). The problem is that the voice clip is not unused by the game(it is just unused by Jabun) and I updated TCRF for the correction. With a video like that, there is no way to fix the video without modifying the video itself and reuploading it. This brings me to what Gabu posted.

It depends on how it is done. What I would say is not to do the videos in the style DYKG does it which is to have a whole string of facts in a video. A video isn't a substitute for a nicely written article. Instead they would be videos showcasing one specific fact. A lot of the videos I have posted on TWW page are just that. They showcase something specific and they are generally short. A whole collection of videos from different games in a format like that would not be ripping off DYKG. With a pool of such videos then perhaps you could attract a bigger audience Xkeeper.

Perhaps a link to the site could be added on videos which are features on the site. I usually get a few hundred views on stupid videos, why not try to direct some of them towards tcrf where such content will be more in-depth?

With my videos, I usually put some sort of link in the description to TCRF when I post videos on TCRF unless I forget. I think I'll go back and check to make sure that I have properly put links in the descriptions.

I was thinking of suggesting this, myself. Videos that highlight things like debug menus or byzantine secrets that require absurd method of access (hi, Erina to Satoru no Yume Bouken!). Not rapid-fire "facts" that are of questionable accuracy, but straightforward videos that serve as introductions or guides to specific things on the wiki.

I actually just enabled monitization on my videos so I'm hoping to get some good TCRFy content put up in the near future (HI BMF PLEASE WORK WITH ME).

Luckily TCRF's adbox has suddenly jumped in price since we got reddit-commented, so there's that at least.
