I'm sure it'll be fine for emulation. Typically rushed/terrible games aren't too hard to play anyway. Either way, there's gotta be something interesting in X7, so who knows, maybe an unfinished section of the story even exists.

I might be able to do the same stuff I did with the PS2 games I've done wiki articles for - use PCSX2 to play the game, then use GGD / TileMolester to view the VRAM.

So load up a savestate? Sort of like PSX Vram?

The savestates are gzipped, so you have to add the gz file extension, extract that, then open one of the files in the graphic viewer.

It works with some games, but not with all of them. Edit: I mean, some games have their graphics in formats that cannot be displayed by GGD or other tools.

Well, I never knew that was possible, but it seems reasonable. That's pretty damn creative.

It's also possible to -modify- the contents of these files, reinsert them into the savestate, then load them into the game. This is pretty useful if you're trying to figure out if a game actually -uses- certain things.

I modified the font file in an Activision Anthology savestate because I wasn't sure if it wasn't used - and it was.

I did a little PSound digging with the X7 trial version. I didn't find any HUGE differences as far as sounds go other than X's, Zero's, and Axl's player sounds being programmer art-level. ESPECIALLY in Axl's case, X and Zero just re-use voices from X6.

Notably, all the music hasn't had some form of mixing, so it actually isn't as loud as it is in the final. As well, the music for Axl's portion of the intro stage has some different instrumentation for lead melody. Plus, Vanishing Gungaroo's stage music is also in an unfinished state.

You'll have to do any texture ripping from Savestates, the only thing I got from GGD was just a useless font that I'm pretty sure is used.

Also, I had a theory. Could anybody with the final Rockman X4 ISO and the Special Trial Version replace the final's PL01.ARC with the Trial Version's version of the same file? I'm curious to see if the sub-weapon sprites of Zero's can be called up that way, or if it will just cause a crash.

However, failing that, I'd like to also have someone split open the contents of the .ARC files used in the Rockman X games. Particularly the contents of PL00.ARC, and PL01.ARC from Data Offset 182272 onward (needs conversion to hexadecimal format). From what I can gather, there are compressed graphics there that I'd love to get my hands on if at all possible. TiledGGD gives no results.

I have the Special Trail Disk of RockMan X4, and I do hope that getting the final RockMan X4 ISO wouldn't be a problem.
However, how exactly do you extract files from PS1 ISOs? I would really like to try it out.

IZARC can extract the contents of the ISO images, if they're in .BIN format. I think it'll also take .ISO images as well.

The alt attribute should be used to give a short description
of an image; longer descriptions should be given with the
longdesc attribute which takes a URL linked to the description.
These measures are needed for people using non-graphical browsers.

For further advice on how to make your pages accessible
see http://www.w3.org/WAI/GL.
You are recommended to use CSS to specify the font and
properties such as its size and color. This will reduce
the size of HTML files and make them easier to maintain
compared with using <FONT> elements.

You are recommended to use CSS to control line wrapping.
Use "white-space: nowrap" to inhibit wrapping in place
of inserting <NOBR>...</NOBR> into the markup.
