Do you see it often where you live? Or is it only a TV thing?

I've always grown up with it, and sometimes it's amazing to hear that others have never seen it for themselves. As a child I used to love the winter season, watching the light snowflakes come down, and hoping for a snow day. Making snowmen and snowforts was an awesome way to pass the time. Of course, the forts only happened once every few years when we had a ton of snow.

Now as I get older I look at winter in a new way. I see it as a hazard and as a big pain in the rear. I still think it looks great, but I wish that it would only come around the holiday season and leave early!

So, what's you experience with or without snow? For those who have never seen it themselves, how was it seeing it on TV?

I live in the desert known as Phoenix, Arizona, so there is no such thing as snow here.

Though I did grow up in the Texas Panhandle, where snow was a occurring event more often than Phoenix. I remember some of the few times I spent playing in the snow when it fell.

To be honest, I didn't spend much time in the snow since I would rather stay inside and play games in the warm house, but that doesn't mean that I never had fun outside in the snow anyways. A few times, I would have some nice snowball fights with some of my friends in the neighborhood. I never did get to make a snowman, but I only really tried once and didn't know what I was doing. And I liked laying down in the middle of the snow, maybe make some snow angels when I felt like it. I had some fun times in the snow.

Sometimes, I wish it would snow in the places I live in, but I don't think I would be able to have as much fun with the snow as I did when I was younger. I would like to just see it maybe once a month during winter and go away after a day or so. I've started to dislike the cold.

I've seen snow twice in my life: once in Texas and again in Alabama. Neither state is really known for being snowy to begin with, which is why I've only seen it twice

While it snows somewhat less here than where I'm originally from, here the drivers are horrible in it and the city is horrible at clearing it. I already hate the cold, so I'm not a big fan of snow either.

It's snowing right now, and has been for the past 10 hours. For some reason, nature is all 'Fuck this area in particular' as it's pretty much ONLY snowing here.

On the upside, I love snow

I live near Toronto Canada, so snow is a pretty common thing. When I was a kid it would sometimes start snowing as early as October, although in recent years we have been having green Christmases, and the snow doesn't usually arrive until January or February.

Like Darkdata, I definitely look at snow differently now than I did when I was a kid. It used to be fun to play in with friends, although now it's just a pain to shovel and causes some pretty dangerous driving conditions.

The only time I've ever experienced snow in person was when I was too little to remember it. So now, all my knowledge of snow comes from pictures and descriptions of it. I guess that's what happens when you live in (not-north) Florida.

It's currently snowing, but not much. Not enough to cause trouble, that is.

Earlier in this Winter, we got epic snow, though. I took a pic of my garden after it: big image

That happened during a weekend, and caused Monday's courses to be cancelled. Snow always causes a lot of trouble in France :/

It's been ever irritatingly constant here this year. We usually get a lot of it.

I really don't like it all that much. It gets in the way and makes driving an utter, absolute hell since the car I drive doesn't have four wheel drive, therefore sticking me in old biddy speeds when I have to drive out in it. It's also really annoying for me to have to go out and shovel and wipe the snow off the car windows and that other stuff.

I used to enjoy it as a kid, but now it's just a big thing that gets in the way.

We have snow quite often. This current year has been odd. We go from above freezing days to below. We've got up to 5 inches in one day, and an inch of rain the next. Currently it is snowing but not enough to stick to the ground.

I hate ice more than anything. I walk a lot and it makes it an actual issue.

Spent 18 years in Puerto Rico, not ever seeing snow. Then I got a lot of it in Pennsylvania for two years. Now I'm in DC and we barely got any this year (only flurries, no accumulation at all).

I do not like it. It was fun the first year, but not anymore. I kinda want to go to a slightly more tropical area.

I lived in Chicago for practically all my life, and every year snow happened, though how much would vary from year to year. One year we got small amounts of snow accumulation, but snowed pretty often. Other times it would rarely snow, but there would be a massive snowfall. And pretty much everything else in-between. In fact this will be my first winter where I won't really experience any snow. It's kinda weird. :\

What's snow?

We don't even get it in winter, let alone the peak of summer.

We've had snow here as early as the end of October to as late as April. This year, we've gotten so much snow so far that they are running out of places to put it. Businesses are looking some parking spaces because of it.

I don't mind the snow for the first week or so... But after that, I just wish it'd melt away.

Being I'm up in New Hampshire now, I'm not really going to get that lucky :< there have been way too many snow storms appearing right as it's close to going all away. It's to the point I almost feel like the weather is trying to taunt me.

I really don't like the cold, in all honesty.

It has snowed here a couple of times. We might get some next week. The nor'easter we had back in November was no fun at all. Especially, after dealing with Hurricane Sandy. It's not much of a hassle for me to shovel it, as long as it falls once (less shoveling for me, because some folks are lazy around here).

Personally, I haven't felt the same about snow since the blizzard of 1996. I was enjoying a snowball fight with some friends after a birthday party, and forgot that you're not supposed to put your hands in hot water, due to them being very sensitive to the cold. The moment the warm water hit my hands, I screamed and my power level went over 9000 (an overused joke, I know, but I was a huge DBZ fan back then, so it works well here)! The amount of tears that ran down my face could've filled a cup. I'm not thrilled about huge snowfalls anymore, but will ignore that when it comes to making angels and snowmen/women with the nieces and nephews.

Update: Flurries started falling around 8PM. That's what I get for posting in this topic.

Looks like we won't be getting no more snow for this year. The weather is being all boring.

I remember a few years ago, at high school, it snowed during the day, and I had a snowball battle with some classmates in front of the high school

What was less cool though, is that I had to walk in snow for one hour to get back home. High school decided to close at 3PM due to the snow, and they said buses were cancelled. A bus then arrived but there were more people waiting for it than the bus could hold, I decided to not bother with that bus.

Good thing something like that has never happened since I'm at university. I just couldn't get back home on feet. It's already taking me nearly one hour to get there via buses...
