This low-quality video... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eI-J5t8US2Q ...has provided some valuable discoveries about a seemingly unused car in Hot Wheels Stunt Track Driver for the PC. Here's the unused car and what the TCRF page has to say about it. ![]()
One thing to note is the wheel design. On every car, a standard "wheel in motion" texture is used. However, "car 0" seems to be an exception. Upon further review, however, the wheel textures in this sprite sheet are used...in the sample game shown in the video. ![]() Notice that the screenshot of this is from a scene where the player does not actually control the car. Immediately after this scene is finished and the car is controllable by the player, the default models, textures, and general car setup are used as they appear in the final game (BLASTER.BMP). The car shown in the video has a prototypical logo on the rear! ![]() However, the textures from "car 0"'s bitmap file do not match up with those seen in the preview. Compare the windows, for instance; while they are chrome in the oddly-structured sprite sheet, the video clearly shows them as black. This suggests that in this demo, there was probably a version of the textures in between "car 0"'s creation and the final textures, which contained some properties of both. The video also suggests that different sprite sheets were created between the two sprite sheets' creations; for example, compare the back of the drivable BLASTER in the demo video with the final. I've never found a copy of the demo CD-ROM myself, but am eager to get my hands on one to see what it contains. The majority of models and textures shown in the video are not included in the final game (excluding, of course, the textures and models for BLASTER and SALTFLAT). So, does anyone have a copy of this CD-ROM that they're willing to rip? Apparently it was some sort of cereal giveaway or something like that. (I guess this post didn't really prove anything after all...but hey, maybe you got some idea out of it.) ____________________ If you are reading this text, then it means that I have successfully made a post on Jul.
