I found this cheat code when disassembling the game. I don't know whether this has been found before. It lets you create a save from a few parts of the game. It works on both the Japanese and American releases.

1. Go to New Game to get to the name entry screen. Be very careful with the next few steps - don't press anything I don't say, or the cheat will lock out.
2. On controller 2, press and hold A, Y, L, and R. Doing this with one hand really sucks.
3. On controller 1, while those buttons on controller 2 are being held, press the following very carefully in order: up 4 times, right 2 times, down 8 times, left 1 time.
4. If you did it correctly, the background will turn red. At this point, you can let go of controller 2. If the screen didn't turn red, you are locked out of the cheat. To reset the lockout, cancel the name entry screen and try again to reset the lockout.
5. Enter one of these as the name of your character and hit End. You can't make mistakes, or it'll lock you out; the screen will change back to normal if this happens. The names are case-sensitive.

RYU
CHUN
VEGA
KEN
DeeJ
Fei

6. The screen color will turn back to normal as the config window comes up. Set your config how you like and start the game on the new file.

It looks like these just load hard-coded save files in the ROM. The Japanese version has equivalents for these names, except Fei. But Fei is a glitches file anyway.

Hey, that's actually a really interesting find! I managed to get it going and make a save state after inputting the code, so I'll have to try all of these out. Feel free to post it on the wiki as well!

Should give this a post on Dragon Tear. I'm sure they'd be interested in this little trick there!

Heh, I just hit the register button on dragon-tear when I saw your reply here. Oddly, Myria was not a taken user name on that forum.

The Japanese version has these as the names to enter (press select for katakana):

きよみ
コジー
なふきん <--- memory vague; might be wrong
バンブー
ドン

The Fei save from the American version can't be accessed in the Japanese version because the name to enter has characters you can't enter; specifically, ABCD.

Holy cow! This is incredible! Brilliant find. Just toyed around with each of the save files. Seems like in each of them the characters always have their starter equipment, and there's assorted stuff in your inventory to equip, though its not nearly enough. VEGA is easily the worst of those names though. Having to play as Gill by himself makes me want to tear my hair out every time I play this game.

What kind of content should a TCRF mediawiki page have for this? I'm not sure what should be shown.

I found a 7th save file that's part of the cheat system, though it can't be accessed through the UI. You need a PAR or GG code to get to it. This save file starts you with all 8 characters at level 99, with Nina as an adult. In your inventory is a "Wherever Door" / "DrWarp" item.

The Japanese name of the "DrWarp" item is "どこでもドア". This appears to be a Doraemon reference, and English translations of Doraemon call it the "Wherever Door".

The alt attribute should be used to give a short description
of an image; longer descriptions should be given with the
longdesc attribute which takes a URL linked to the description.
These measures are needed for people using non-graphical browsers.

For further advice on how to make your pages accessible
see http://www.w3.org/WAI/GL.
You are recommended to use CSS to specify the font and
properties such as its size and color. This will reduce
the size of HTML files and make them easier to maintain
compared with using <FONT> elements.

You are recommended to use CSS to control line wrapping.
Use "white-space: nowrap" to inhibit wrapping in place
of inserting <NOBR>...</NOBR> into the markup.
