| A month or so ago I wandered up to one of those Vitas at the mall and saw Gravity Rush was running with some debug crap overlayed on the screen. I wondered what clever bastard had figured out how to enable them, fooled around with it some, and moved on. The next time I tried one, I enabled the debug features myself by just mashing all the buttons, and decided to take some photos if I got to try it again. Tonight, I did, and I figured out that you enable debug mode by (wait for it) holding D-pad right for a couple of seconds. So here's a terrible gallery of illegible iPhone photos showing me messing with the menu: http://imgur.com/a/qd1Aa The first shot is at the very beginning of the demo, having enabled debug mode right away. The first word there is SANDBOX, can't remember/read what it says next. The menu uses a sort of directory structure, d-pad right enables/disables toggle features, and enters deeper directories for more complex settings. The first option is Debug Camera, which also enables Debug Movement (the second option). In the third shot, you can see I'm floating: this is debug movement. The left stick moves forward/back and strafes left/right. The L and R triggers are for vertical movement. You can see in the very last shot that I've flown high up into the sky using this. The third option is Debug Pause, which freezes the game (on purpose/temporarily); no movement, etc. From the fifth shot onward, I've enabled the audio debug display--no, not the CPU usage meter like in Zelda that everyone calls "debug sound" for no reason--this seems to show details about the current audio stream/s. Only the first is used in the demo areas I've played. If you struggle, "none" is legible at right on the second to fourth streams. In the sixth shot, I've entered the Capture / ScreenShot submenu. The options read: - Screenshot - Capture video - Screenshot / Debug - Capture video / Debug - Copy screenshot - Show 2D = ON The next shot is in the Player menu, with a bunch of coordinates and crap. The one after that is the DebugKey submenu, which allows assigning debug features to buttons on the Vita. Here I've changed Start to Debug Pause. Select and the shoulder buttons are all on "none". That's pretty much all I documented, but the menu is huge and scrolls across multiple pages. There's stuff about checkpoints, some of which mention E3, but I couldn't get these to do anything. D-pad left turns the menu off again (but debug overlays like the audio display will remain until toggled off again). I don't know if home users are able to download this demo or if it's an in-store exclusive deal, but it'd be nice to see it documented by someone with proper access to the system. Sorry for the crap photos, hope they're at least mildly interesting. |
