Magazine Review copy? Released in extremely limited quantities in specific regions? I have never heard of a PAL Super Game Boy 2 anywhere previously. I have no information about the PAL Super Game Boy 2 aside that there were plans to release the unit and since the SNES was almost canned at this point, the project was scrapped. Same scenario for the US version that was planned.

It could be modified. Solder in a lockout chip and replace the back sticker.

Super Game Boy 1 after all was English only, with an identical BIOS for NTSC and PAL. (Nintendo never translated its GUI language)

Region lockout does not exist in any revisions of the Super Game Boy. In fact, Nintendo never bothered to update the font for the region error message present in the Super Game Boy 2. The only differences would be the clock speed and the adjustments needed for the DATA_SND and TEST_EN (not that the latter was actually used).

Why would you need to replace the lockout chip if the Super Game Boy does not detect the presence of region in either case of the SNES or via the unit. This would only be useful for Space Invaders running in SGB mode or the reasons mentioned above in my previous post.

Software region lockouts use the PPU, not the CIC. If the wrong region's lockout chip is inside the cartridge then the SNES will not even boot.

I was not thinking about that. Eh, luckily the PAR MK3 will handle that issue by bypassing it using the currently insterted game using the back slot. Though, the cart shows SNSP for PAL instead of SHVC for NTSC.

Notice its SNSP sticker is too small. It doesn't cover nearly as much of the rear indentation the Japanese one did.
