Correct, the Girl Scouts are a completely different organization. This leads to much confusion when people come into our shop thinking we have Girl Scout stuff because our sign only says "Scout Shop."
But yeah, the "boring" sentiment is one I hear all the time at the store. The girls and women that come in all say that they wanted to do the cool stuff the Boy Scouts were doing too, but the Girl Scouts were all about car-camping and selling cookies and being girly. That's why a lot of girls eventually join Venture Scouting, the BSA's co-ed scouting program. It's way more involved than the normal Boy Scouting program, and much tougher from what I've read in their handbooks. It's very challenging, very boy/girl-led, and goes until the age of 21, three years longer than the normal Boy Scout program. ____________________ |
