It's probably just me, but do some of them look like they have outdated character models? Some look Gamecube graphics to me. Though the lighting effects are a saving grace. They still look pretty.

Yeah, the models look lower-poly. Will we really notice though? I mean, the camera doesn't normally zoom in that close, unless it's camera mode.

I thought it was a bit better than normal of an update. At least it was a bundle update, plus they mentioned how Mew and Celebi now can drop rare items.

Hey, it was better than yesterday's disappointing Smash Friends update.

True, but the quality of updates has been in a decline the past few weeks.
Yeah, I guess it was better that they're doing "returning" updates now. They should do one for characters

Why does it look like Staryu and Snorlax are the only one they even tried to give better models too? =\ if they were that lazy, they could have even used the graphics from Pokemon Battle Revolution! I know the Pokemon aren't that big of a part of the game, but it makes me really sad to see this kind of sloppiness in an otherwise awesome game, especially if they delayed the release by two months--there's really no excuse now for this kind of thing ._.

In my opinion, I believe pokemon *should* have lower poly counts than the other models. It makes sense really. If only the pokemon models are significantly lower quality, then you could say it was intentional.

Pokemon are cartoonish and simple in design, probably because of hardware limitations, but nevertheless, that's their style now since they were first drawn in 3-D on Nintendo Strategy Guides for Pokemon Blue/Red, then fully rendered in 3d in the stadium games.

I think they look very pokemonish, as they should. A realistic looking Lugia, is not a Lugia in my book.

Well, there's no point in having high-poly models for characters that appear on-screen for 30 seconds at most. Just imagine a Pokeball only battle with high-poly Pokemon models...

Ugh, in 64 they were horrible
Melee, they were pretty good, nothing to write home about.
Brawl, better, but still, nothing special.

I think this was previously discussed on Board2, when Groudon was first shown.

I never actually noticed that
I only screw with the camera in Melee, when a certain person poses or something.

I enjoyed them, too , but I had hoped Mew/Celebi would do more than just float up. I called them useless because 99% of the time we're playing Time/Stock.

I thought that's what they WERE doing, because Pokemon Battle Revolution used N64 models because the GCN games used N64 models and they couldn't be arsed to remake.... er, 500 models or so. =x

Maybe this is a sign they're going to have a lot in, though? Thus, they wouldn't have to redo every model for, say, 50 or 100 Pokemon they would put in?

I never really liked bonus fights because it never really seemed to be about skill, only luck (honestly, who's going to be able to remember all these random bonuses when they're in the middle of a big battle?).

I honestly hate Bonus Matches, because you're too focused on special kills rather than getting ahead.
