Well, on a serious note, information on games being used by others is fine in pretty much all cases as it doesn't really belong to anyone, the exceptions in my opinion would include text based walkthroughs, guides, etc.

| well if he doesnt want to look arrogant and a thief, all he needs to do is add a citation in the description or the video. and it still gets under my skin that he is using ads to make money off the information other people collected.
i wouldnt have given any craps if it wasnt for the ads, myself. |

| Maybe not so much a magazine as a printed publication on some kind of annunal-ish basis.
We could probably have it printed at some kind of "print anything" company like lulu.com or something like that. It probably would help to find some layout design software as well. I need to get my hands on a copy of InDesign again sometime, but I'm sure there's some program out there that would trump that. I figure the publication could fully focus on one, two...maaaaaaaaybe three games per issue. | Oh, unmarked information happens everyday. Hell, I just came back from the ROM hacking forum to find an interesting tale of someone bootlegging Parallel Worlds. But seriously, for this specifically, why care, or pursue the matter? I'm asking because of your opinion, because I don't think you would've brought this up and responded in the way you posted if you didn't care at all.
Stuff like this isn't like the corporations of the entertainment industry that would go all-out against someone at the drop of a hat if they had the means to do so. (And it was worth it.) Something as minuscular as information from a public wiki isn't the sort of thing that should have source reference be a concern. (Course, mind you, it's never cool to claim sources as your own. You don't want to be part of the problem that brought forth copyrights.) Just remember, quoting sources isn't mandatory, but it sure as hell is encouraged. This doesn't mean we should be hounding people to give credit. Oh, and don't get so easily offended. Much less get easily offended because you garnered disgust due to how near-sighted your remarks were. Oh, and trolls aren't people that disagree with you harshly. Don't make that mistake. |
