as you can see, all this guy did was go down tcrf wiki page for pokemon and read it, while not crediting you guys for the information and passing it off as his own. i dont know how active this forum is or anything but i really like this site and he should have at least cited you guys. what do you guys think about this?

again he could have cited you guys that would be the responsible and professional thing to do. if you guys dont care thats fine, that isnt the point of the thread. im just letting you guys know somebody is blatantly ripping you off. and im pretty sure he might be making money off it too, he has a website with tcrf information as well. ad revenue from information he didnt discover for himself. http://didyouknowgaming.com/
again, not saying this is anything to get up in arms about, or that you have to care or that its worth caring about. im just doing my civic duty to report intellectual properties being stolen and exploited for money. if you guys are fine with that, good. honestly, its the better road to go down to say "The info is out there, it's not locked away in a ROM anymore, and that's all that really matters in the end.".
EDIT: thank you glitter. it did irk me a bit, so thats why i wanted to make sure you guys knew at least. i understand its a wiki and not all the information was independently researched. still, there are a lot of hard workers who DO independent research for this site and this guy is making money off it.

A lot of the information is also on Bulbapedia (and in fact, the video shows one of the tables from the website). So, it doesn't matter too much.

Machinima also took stuff from us, but they linked to our website and it ultimately is benign.

I appreciate that you care, but it ultimately is better that info about this unused stuff is spread.

its not just the pokemon though, and at least machinima has the stones to cite you. it seems like a small thing, adding where you got the information from. but when you make money off of it, its something different, in my mind. i really do understand that its great that this information is getting spread, the video has what, 300k+ views? and its a brand new series? i just think it would be really nice of them to give credit where credit is due. you guys work hard, you deserve it.

I read that guy's entire website and it's honestly pretty lame. He has no real idea what he's talking about and it becomes really obvious when you pay any attention to that video.

Namely, thinking that emulator updates change ROMs. Or the fact that he uses a (obvious!) fake Pokemon Green box.


Basically, really cheap and lame. But relatively benign, all things considered. With 300000+ views though, it's quite disappointing that he couldn't be bothered to source anything he said.

I don't even know how this thread became such a trainwreck, but it's going to stop right now.

ampersand, I personally don't give a crap what some random idiot does with the info on our wiki. The fact of the matter is, TCRF has been around in some form or another for a lot longer than that site has, and we have a lot of very knowledgeable and respected contributors. We've been mentioned on some pretty big websites, and game developers have even expressed interest in our work!

The bottom line is, TCRF will be alive and kicking long after these dumbed-down-for-the-LOLcats-crowd copycats are dead and buried.

thank you for unlocking my thread, whoever did it. im sorry for the derail by a couple of users, and my reaction to it, im not used to dealing with trolls. i guess i was annoyed because they are saying that they dont care, which is fine, but some people might care because its their research and time spent getting stolen. so please dont be disrespectful in my thread and derail it, if you dont care about the subject, YOU DONT HAVE TO POST. thanks.

Google image search for Pokemon Green, first non-Japanese result. The first result was, of course, the actual box art from Bulbapedia.

Maybe he thought the original Japanese box art wouldn't mesh well with the Red/Blue box art? I don't know, but it's still silly.
