I apologize in that I cannot tell you where I found these files, but I did end up digging them all up using Taxahan, some intense googling to apply the right palettes to the files, and a generous person on the internet who wrote a program for me that put all the image files into one because FUCK, there are A TON of images and I was way too lazy to put them together myself.
I apologize for duplicates or palette errors in this, the duplicates were there in the files, and the palette errors were from trying to apply the right palette to EVERY SINGLE THING I FOUND LOL

Anyways, I did try submitting this to the spriters resource, but there was too much blank space for them and I was not going to go reorder all the sprites. Load up the link and you'll see why I was too lazy LOL
please ignore the stealing doodle. I was like 13 then.

edit: btw, my current goal is to take out the dungeon textures in the pokemon mystery dungeon series, but they're in this weirdass bpc/bpl format that no one knows how to decipher, according to google.:I help?

This is awesome!

Are those Pokemon Contest tiles, ala Gen 3, in there? There's one with a pink floor, curtains, etc.

There's also some unused ones from the Weirdbutt Church in Hearthome, too. Thanks again for this. =)

ETA: There's also a ton of trees. I think the ones in the final are all model based-- is that assumption right?

I'm having trouble determining which tiles are and aren't used in the final from what the file description says this is all tiles in the game, not just unused ones?

This is relevant to my interests. Do you know if the maps are stored in a tile format too, or if it's all huge compiled 3D models with textures applied?

If I'm not mistaken, all maps in the game, even interior locations, are 3D in some way. It's the only way they could have structures like mountains and ledges and bridges that work the way they do in the game.

It's probably used as a texture, but i honestly don't know for sure. Perhaps if anyone wants to rips the maps themselves?
by the way, does anyone know how to state all the folder stuff in a text format? i know someone on this forum mentioned it, so i could list all the file names (i only compiled them into an image for easier access, I still have the original files I ripped these from and the internal names for each tile in each file.

Unfortunately, I don't know if I can tell you where I found all of this. However, I do have the original files I used to rip it. Looking at the original image files, it looks like they were all in .BTX0 files numbered from 00 through 57. the NSBTX extractor to apply the right palettes, which 99% were named exactly with the tiles themselves.
The order SHOULD fit with the picture. the extractor put the BTX0 number before all of it, so it's all in order that way (the picture has a row for each .BTX0 file, which is why some of the rows are much much longer than the others)


Actually, disregard all of that. I'll just .zip it up for you guys. Would you like me to include the .BTX0 files, or just the image files?

Guess I haven't done my homework. Oopsies.
My best guess is then that the developers did have a tile-based map editors, but it compiled static models into the ROM..
