So, after going out to look for (and successfully finding) these little guys...

I suddenly had a little idea. What kinds of random wildlife do you happen to come across in your backyard (or just your property in general)? Big or small, it doesn't matter.

Aside from these, there's plenty of worms and slugs (the latter I kill because they eat the plants that my grandparents try to grow), the red-backed salamanders pictured above, and various little bugs and centipedes when I lift up the flower pots.

There's never anything exotic or interesting in my yard, just squirrels and snakes and such.

However, recently I came across a couple baby birds that were laying in the grass. It looked like they had fallen out of their nest. I scooped 'em up and put 'em back, pretty sure that the mother wouldn't come back since I had disturbed the nest (turns out that's not true). The mother did come back, but a couple days later she was gone and so were the babies.

... Rabbits.

That's all.

My mother claims to have seen a fox, once.

I don't have a yard at all anymore, but when I was younger, I would find coyotes, wild chickens and turkeys, snakes, blue-belly lizards, cows (lived on a farm), cougars... all sorts of animals. Thankfully, I never ran into a cougar face to face, but saw one outside of my window.

Spiders and other annoying bugs that unfortunately often find their way into the house the second that you open a door.

Other than that we do see the occasional squirrel run across the fence in our back yard, along with a rabbit that seems to show up every once in awhile.

This, plus the occasional skunk.

I live in a very boring neighborhood. Of course, it's surrounded on all four sides by businesses and the freeway, so I don't blame animals for not wanting to live here.

But really the most we see here are turkeys... (more in recent years...) sometimes you can hear coyotes at night, but I don't think we've ever seen them.

I laughed.

Most I see is birds and squirrels. Robins seem to be particularly common. (Also neighbors. Does that count?)

I don't really have a backyard, but we see a lot of skunks and cats and sometimes raccoons outside.

One time there was a big-ass hen out back for some reason, it was weird as fuck.

Rabbits, mostly rabbits. A few cats and an occasional raccoon dog. Even foxes sometimes.

I've also heard that there are a lot of bears in the forests near us. Haven't seen one myself though.

It's funny that not even a day after this thread was made a rabbit decided to show up in my backyard.

It's a pretty big one too.

Aww, bunny! :3

As far as skunks go too, I know they're around. However, I've never actually laid eyes on one around here. This is probably for the better.

For a home situated near a large city, there's a massive number of different animals that hang around here.

There's the falcon that generally hangs out over at the hospital, but we can sometimes see him in other parts of town. I'm suspecting it's the reason why I randomly found a squirrel's skull outside under our tree one time.

We also have Quaker parrots. They generally hang out in the trees around town, but I haven't seen a lot of them lately due to the old golf course being sold and redeveloped. Hopefully the park on this side of town will work wonderfully for them.

Also we have geese. Putting that out there.

We also have squirrels, coyotes, opossums, more recently cats, and bunnies.

One time a rabbit actually decided to make its nest right in our backyard, and it was amazing to see all the baby bunnies grow up and hang out in our backyard when they got older.

...I've only seen the occasional rabbit since. :c

Our backyard doesn't have much aside from birds, lizards and bugs, but the latter two have always fascinated me, so I spent a lot of time observing them in my youth.

Creatures of interest include antlions, cicadas, camel spiders, pill bugs, centipedes, mantises, skinks, quails, and roadrunners.

I've been told that there are scorpions around here, and I've heard what sounds like the hoot of an owl many times over the years, but I've never actually seen either.

Aside from the occasional deer, there's not much... squirrels and a few rabbits perhaps.

But the birds! Not too many roam near the house, but in the cluster of trees behind there are dozens chirping at all hours. Too bad I never payed any attention in that ornithology class.

I live in pretty much the same place but a different country... So BMF basically said everything I have around here too..and a few Raccoon's but they're very rare. I did see a Skunk in our garbage on t he patio before though.

Luckily I didn't get sprayed...
