Does anyone else use this for examining 3D models? I've found it very useful in the past.

I'm attempting to open an LP file extension with it and get an error when I try to open it. Is there another program I could use to open it?

I wonder what game you are talking about...
Can you at least post the header to the file?
I'm suspecting that it might be for Lightscape or it's for a different type of program.

Yeah, it's a Lightscape file. I think I confused it with Lightwave.

The game is a DOS-era NASCAR game. I've also been trying to extract some WAV files I found in a DAT file, using three different programs, with no success at all.

There are sort of "universal extractor" programs, that should just see the WAV header (it's reasonably specific) and extract it. I can't name any at the moment, though.

As for your other problem, sorry, not familiar with 3D stuff at all.

Microsoft .wav files begin with ASCII bytes "RIFF", so if you just use a hex editor to strip off everything before that and save as .wav, it should work for the purposes of playing or converting to other sound types.

To process the entire RIFF data, read the 4 bytes following the "RIFF" identifier as an unsigned integer. It will represent the number of bytes more to read as the contents of the file. In other words, FileSize = 8 + SizeBytes.
