Korea's funny.

I just added some info about the Korean versions of Samurai Shodown II and The Last Blade, but I was wondering if there's a template like "Compare", but for more than two images. If there isn't, can one be made, please?

Another question.

If we already have screenshots for a game, like say, Sega Smash Pack Volume 1 on the Dreamcast, but they're from an imperfectly emulated version, would it be fine if I replaced the screenshot with a video capture?

I honestly wouldn't bother unless a screenshot has severe visual anomalies. We generally try to avoid analog video captures unless there is no viable alternative.

Found something interesting in Super Mario Sunshine's files. No clue if anyone's ever found it before, but...

In title.szs, file title.blo, there's what appears to be a list of untranslated level names that I can only assume belong to some kind of level select menu. It also references a font file test_fontEX.bfn. The names are listed below, exactly as they appear in the list, with localized names in parentheses. I've highlighted the interesting ones.

-Airport (Delfino Airstrip)
-Dolpic Town (Delfino Plaza)
-Ricco harbor
-Bianco hills
-Mamma beach (Gelato Beach)
-Sirena beach
-Hotel delfino
-Pina parco (Pinna Park)
-Hotel Lacrima (translates to "tear")
-Mare village (Noki Bay)
-Monte village (Pianta Village)
-Erto rock (translates to "steep" or "elevate")
-Warship island (what!?)
-Fire shrine (note: not Corona Mountain)
-ex map ("ex" is typically used to denote the Secret platforming stages)
-Corona mountain
-Scale map (The... map screen?)
-Test Map 1 (We already know about the test map, but...)
-Test Map 2 (seems there was more than one!)


Another thing to note is that the file seems to indicate there are more than one list windows called. There's also two other files (title5 and title6) with the same level lists, but some differences to the other lists.

Dont want just create a topic just for this but I noticed one thing and want to point this.

Noticed a diffience slightly between standard and Sonic complitation version of Sonic the Hedgehog:

In scrap brain zone, in the background of city/factory this plusing red light. But in the complitation these light is blinking to random of colors like they have a disco inside. Also second act the square with pink color at background is differt in the complitation.

Maybe there is more diffences to find out more things in Sonic compliation?

Funny i knew it many years ago and thought someone should point it but no anyone did it...

As I understand it, the background lights/squares are miscolored because the game was hard-coded to grab the palette data from specific spots in ROM. When it was recompiled for inclusion in multicarts, these addresses were not updated, causing the game to use garbage data.

It could just be that the Genesis had limitations preventing Sega from making it what they originally intended, and they just put in their original plans into the newer version. You know, like what George Lucas did with the original Star Wars trilogy. I might be misunderstanding what you're saying though. Are you saying the colors look garbled and out of place, or do they look completed and are just different?

BMF is correct in that the multicart versions didn't have that code updated, so it pulls random garbage instead of something meaningful. Nothing to see here.

Okay, so I found the following text in Sonic Adventure 2 Battle:
SUPER SONIC.Powered by the 7 Chaos Emeralds....Amazing speed and moves,....but dies if rings are lost..SUPER SHADOW
It leads me to think that Super Sonic and Super Shadow were once considered to be part of the versus mode, especially since this text was located right after the text that already appears in versus mode. I'd investigate this more and look for some other things related to this, but I don't really know how, unfortunately. I'm also unsure of what kind of tcrf material this is, so I don't know how I would add it to the wiki. Is there a standard for this kind of thing? Like, write "at offset 462C03, the following text is found"?

There is already precedence for doing it that way. Since the text is all you have to go on at this point, I wouldn't consider it inappropriate to say where in the disc image it is just to get it up somewhere.

Just stick [[Category: Power Instinct]] at the bottom of the applicable articles. It'll show up as a red link for filling in at a later time. MediaWiki will still categorize pages even if the category itself doesn't have any content in its page.

Generally for these things we try to use templates, so it would be better to make a page at Template:Power Instinct series that just includes [[Category:Power Instinct]] until the series template is made proper.

Hm, looks like a limitation of the <gallery> markup. Baleful Beacon, for instance, is attempting to resize an 86x34-pixel image to 120 pixels wide, which lands on a non-integer height of ~47.44186 pixels tall.

Looking at a couple of small images--namely this one on TCRF and this one on Paragon Wiki--it looks like the scaling for upsampled images is point resize/nearest neighbor on MediaWiki 1.16.0 (TCRF), and bilinear on 1.17.0 (Paragon Wiki).

Seems like a roundabout reason to update the server software, but it would technically solve the problem with these images getting distorted.

There's CSS stuffed into it that sets the resize to nearest-neighbor because of pixel art. If anything, the gallery code needs fixed. It's been on the to-do list for a long time.

If you want the images in the gallery to be a specific size, you can add this to the gallery tag:

<gallery heights="#px" widths="#px">


Where # equals the pixel size you want. Note that this changes the size of all the images in that particular gallery.
