I hit the jackpot and found $300 dollars while cleaning my room, and along with the $100 I had laying around waiting for something worthy to spend on...

My question to you all, my fellow readers, is what should I spend it on?

... Or save it?

Hold onto it until you find something you're really looking for.

Trust me, you'll be much better off this way. (Unless, well, chances are very high someone's going to take it from you...)

I would honestly put in the bank to have it go up in value... then again, I am a save o maniac who never buys anything for myself.

But really, if you have to ask what to put it on, chances are you don't have anything worthwhile that you want to put it on right now anyway.

Save it.

Or donate it to "Anya is tired of riding her bike to work and would like to get a car" fund.

Hm... put some aside for something that you're looking forward to (new game/gadget/etc.) and save the rest.

$300 found in your room, though? I'd check under your mattress next.

Spend it on something ridiculous you will use only once.

And then post about how you wish you didn't.

See? I'm being constructive! I just gave you TWO things you can do with 400 dollars!

I've done something similar, although with only 20 or 50.

Answer is... well, sometimes parents steal their childrens' money. The answer is to hide it! I can't count the amount of money I've had to stash away in the past. Hell, I blew $300ish on a netbook once because it was that (and I wanted a smaller machine to carry around) or risking it getting stolen.

My mother has, fortunately, stopped since then. At least in 2008/2009 she wasn't stealing for fucking cigarettes of all things... (Seriously, she stole $50 once for them... in 2002-2004, I don't exactly remember. Possibly mid-2003. I am STILL pissed off about that, honestly...)

Spend it wisely. If you drive around a bit looking for good prices, you could probably use it to get a good two-thirds of a tank of gas.

Wait, people actually still buy college textbooks?

Seriously, Wiley, McGraw-Hill and Pearson can go fuck themselves for all I care.

I've seen course books run anywhere from $20-30 (if it's all photocopied material) to $150+.

I remember a math teacher telling us that the course book was $120, then said that we really didn't need it and could always take out a copy from the library if need be.
