I have my fetish series of remakes, that i like the most, the Super Mario Advance series. From 1 to 4, if i find something, or if YOU find something, that's interesting, post here.

In my part, i know many things on SMA4, but i got shocked by seeing all the things that's on TCRF, that i didn't know.

However, some things are not known in this wiki, it doesn't talk about the World-e in the Europe version of SMA4, it's actually present, translated, and working very well.
Should i add something about it on TCRF ?

Also, i added some song difference on SMA2 page.

You know, thinking about it, I might as well recycle this thread. Has anybody looked into SMA4/SMB3 yet? There's a new debug menu in it that Cen claimed was disabled, but I'd prefer to see some evidence I guess.

I noticed something and that was that SMA3: Yoshi's Island isn't in the TRCF, so you might wanna put that up there, that I think was a great game add-on to the SMA series.

Well I don't think there was much unused, I think there was some graphics unused but thats it, and they were probably beta test graphics

and yes, Yoshi was updated and the map was updated, as well as Tiles used in the levels

I spent like 10 seconds looking at this game and found this:



I don't recall ever seeing this. If you reset the game during the intro level, it'll still use "NEW". If you reset it right after beating the intro level, it'll use "World 1". As such, I have no idea where this would fit. It doesn't seem to be present in the SNES version. A 100% save file I found online shows the "Clear" icon, so it's apparently not used for game completion either.

Does anyone recognize it?

Edit: Used if one gets a Game Over on the intro level and then chooses No or resets. Kind of pointless. :/

That's a rather unnecessary addition. It's actually impossible to get a Game Over on the intro level in the SNES version, as you have infinite lives there.

I found these in the place of where two of the unused mushroom transformation sprites were in the SNES version of the game:



They appear to be different versions of the message box. Could these be a secret for getting 100% in the game? (I never fully completed this version, so I'm not sure.)

This still fits on the wiki as being excessively stupid and obscure trivia, like the Top-Secret Codes category of the old HTML pages.

I, for one, think it's actually pretty neat.

I too noticed those blocks. (However, this was right before going to bed and I was too tired to post about it.) Either way, I don't recognize them either. Then again, I never beat the game to 100%.

I personally don't recall those sprites being used anywhere in SMA3 and I beat the game to 100%. All message boxes look the same from what I remember. Then again, the last time I seriously played this game was 10 years ago when it came out for the GBA and off and on ever since. 10 years is a long time to remember small little sprites like that.

I beat the game 100% (reaching the Secret levels in one sitting~) and I have never seen those blocks before. Interesting!

I noticed that Peardian changed the name of the SMA3 article to "Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3". This brings up a question about the naming convention to use for all the SMA games. Different websites report different things, sometimes being inconsistent with themselves. However, the Nintendo websites should probably be considered official enough.

The original SMA is simply called "Super Mario Advance", so no confusion there.

SMA2 is called "Super Mario World: Super Mario Advance 2" on nintendo.com, so we may want to rename that article too.

SMA3 is indeed "Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3" on nintendo.com.

Now, here's the difficult one. nintendo.com lists SMA4 as "Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3", breaking the pattern. However, nintendo.co.uk lists it as "Super Mario Bros. 3: Super Mario Advance 4". Hooray, not even Nintendo themselves are sure what the hell to call it.

So, I assume we want to go with the "official" naming scheme, so the SMA2 article should be renamed. I assume that we should still stick to NOA's c-c-c-combo breaker, right?

At first, I thought SMA3 was the only one that was different, but it turns out you're right, SMA2 is like that, too. Not sure why they decided to flip it around for SMA4.


Edit: Moved SMA2. And to prevent confusion, let me clarify that no, SMA4 does not need to be changed.

You can always create a few redirects for the other name variations (but don't go crazy substituting hyphens for colons and varying the number and location of spaces in a futile attempt to catch every single possible variation, it's not really necessary).
