Good to know. I had a gut feeling someone would pop up with info on those. I guess that's the reason we post in the open before we commit info. Gotta fact check somehow.

Anyway, work is stalled until sunday. I'm probably going to hold off a lot of research until an old friend has time to update a dev tool I'm extremely partial to. No major rush I guess.

So Nulog, the Japanese blogger/game reseacher, has found an unused enemy in KDR.

(Someone want to get in contact with this guy? )

Btw. Just gonna confirm both Catus1 streams are officially unused. There are a ton other streams I know of that are as well, but I'd prefer to have the right tools to confirm each one in an organized manner instead of basing it off hunches. Plus a lot of the streams with their downgrade doubles are just too hard to call in the long run...

I've got every 3D file extracted from that game, and I just noticed that one among them...



It's also got some nice animations to it...all of which fully work.

You don't need to play a game to find unused content if you know where to look, especially in a public forum, where you can ask people if they know where stuff is.

Not everyone can play all the games, but they might want to dig around in them because hey, that's what they do.

Usually I dig a lot of stuff and they I publish in forums, such as Japanese stuff and more.
Some games I already what is unused and what it isn't (MKD for example don't have anything, but I think there is a Debug Menu)

But well, I'll still keep with my way, can only search what I have. (for me, I'm saying.)

Also, I played through twice, but let me just reiterate this:

There are several copies of songs in Kirby's Return to Dreamland, each with extremely minor differences. These differences are so minor that in some cases it would take an extremely good ear to tell which stream is actually used. While I don't doubt this can be done by recording the game audio and going song by song, I don't have the time to do so.

I've been in contact with a friend of mine who's looking into making his own build of Dolphin. I've asked him to throw in some features that would help us out, including the ability to see which files are loaded by the game. As far as I know, only Treeki's custom build is capable of doing that and KRD does not run well with it.

I think Dolphin can already do that. If you go to View and check Logwindow, then select 'warning' for verbosity, it should list the files being loaded. Though, if a few files are in an archive, it only shows that it loaded that archive and not specifically what was loaded from it.

I think an important feature to add would be the ability to either run a game that's been decompiled, or allow us to slip in new edited files without recompiling the game iso. I've looked into a few games and started finding unused stuff, but I was too lazy to repeatedly try editing files little bits at a time, and then waiting for the image to be rebuilt... it was a monotonous chunk of time D:

Basically a way that would let us edit files and see the differences without having to rebuild the game every single time :p

Well, I know there's a tool like that for Gamecube games. I'm pretty sure I know of something else for Wii games...

I did find what I was looking for, a program called Wiiscrubber- but it needs a key.bin from an actual Wii to work. Plus, all three of the links to download it are invalid. I swear I used it to replace the title logo in Skyward Sword before I went and deleted it.

Actually that was the main feature of Treeki's mod. We used it for NSMBW and could replace files in what I guess you could call "real time."

EDIT: Welp. It sure logs stuff. Everything but the BRSTMs. No idea why. Probably isn't coded to delve that deep...
