Hi, I don't know if this is a pretty n00bish question, but can you change the number of stars needed to open the cannon outside the castle? I think one or two stars in my hack may be impossible to get...

If this can't be done, can you change the time that you need to beat to get the secret star in The Princess's Secret Slide?

Go to 0xABA12 in a hex editor to change the amount of stars needed for the cannon.

Frauber's obj importer has an option for setting the peach's slide timer.

How do you edit the forgrounds (the part by the waterfall) texture? i can't find out where the texture is! (i hope i am not breaking any rules because i am new)

By "foregrounds by the waterfall", do you mean:

A) The hill/dirt next to the waterfall, that forms it...
B) The ground near the waterfall...
C) The castle brick texture underwater
D) The grassy slope next to the waterfall



Any of these four can be modified by changing the appropriate texture once it's figured out which one you want to edit.

Thanks! I don't have any experience at all in a hex editor, so can you help me? I'll try it anyway, backing up my ROM beforehand, of course

Nope none of those... i think it is some hidden texture somewhere... but i have seen it modafied before so it has to be somewhere!

so am i... they have egg textures which arn't normaly used ingame. but i just can't seem to find it.

Okay, I have not found anything from the mostly solid textures....I have yet to check the textures that are more than one major color.

The grassy slope that surrounds the castle grounds? If so, the texture's actually grey if I recall, and is colored green via a lighting-related Display List command (Movemem? Moveword? Something.)

Um, I have another question. In Toad's tool, I put a Star object in, but in game, I can't collect it.
It's parameters are:
Act: 2
Object Combo: 66
Model ID: 122
Behaviour: 10784
B. Param 1: 0
B. Param 2: 0

It is a custom level imported with the .obj importer, if that helps.

You've got to modify some of the data - some 8-bit RGB color values I believe? - that said command points to. I can't remember the data's layout on top of my head (not to mention look it up since I'm not at home) so I can't help you further right now. Maybe you or someone else on here could try to look into it with this information, and the scripting/DList stuff from the hacking doc, tho...

Is toads tool discontinued, because I 'dipped' out of any sort of rom hacking/editing about a year ago, and I had the latest version, and the same version is still out, so I am wondering if the developer had given up on it....

Ok god **** it, I will do it, yep, when I am more advanced at C++ I will ask the "lord creator" for the source files then.... **sniff** I will continue your hope and develop Toad's Tool 64X v0.6a (or whatever), the X is my signature for edited and modded software that developers don't develop anymore etc, so I continue the development.... Really, this community needs to have a copy and paste func on TT64, because I hate the limitations of only the amount originally in level.

You may have hope in me....
