Do you regularly join in sweepstakes?

I try to join just about every car give away I see, at least the online ones. I avoid those ones in the mall because they typically sign you up for lots of junk snail mail. And video game or electronics ones.

Also, have you ever won anything from a sweepstakes?

I haven't ever won anything of note, but I did go to school with a kid that won a trip to the 2000 Sydney Olympic games. They did a big rally at our school and gave free Gatorade to everyone.

No I don't. The only ones I see are the big national ones run by like, big companies and jazz.

I also tend to notice that people from California always seem to win these...

A few years ago, I got a call saying I won $25000 from Publisher's Clearing House (IIRC). I never got it.

My mother does this all the time.

She wins some things - she won a book club meeting from an author once (which she asked and traded for a second prize, a book and a Cabot cheese basket, since she doesn't belong to a book club) and an OshKosh $100 gift card, which she ended up giving to a friend as a gift (she had no use for it, might as well give it to someone who does.)

...She won tickets to the Monster Jam off a radio station, too - that was pretty much the highlight of the year, for me. Amazing time. I'd love to go see that again.

I dunno if these are sweepstakes per se, but they're contests she won, to any extent...

I've done a couple here and then, when I was working at Shoppers I actually won an online sweepstakes for their anniversary, got $60 worth of points out of it.

Aside from that, not really, entered the Gamestop one a couple days ago, and the Steam giveaways I always participate in.

I have to deal with the fallout from my grandpa's sweepstakes-entries, so... no. Fun fact: One of the junk mails from it contained a nickle... Well, he put that mail in the shredder without removing the nickle first.


That was fun to fix.

When I was really young I remember entering a sweepstakes (I think we did it in my father's name because I wasn't legally old enough, but whatever), I think it was the Publishers Clearing House- I remember thinking I would be getting a million dollars any day now, and filling out all the various forms and magazine subscriptions and what-not...
