And why did you have a mall cart with you?

And what is "nuke the fountain"?

- There was a ranom mallcart (the ones you ride in) in front of an abandoned building, so we drove it back to the Fred Meyer it belonged to (across the street)

- There's a fountain at an apartment complex (next to the abandoned buliding, even) that hasn't turned off yet, even though it's below freezing. There's a ton of ice around it, and rocks, so... destruction!

That sounds like a lot of fun. Then again, breaking stuff usually is, as long as it's not yours.

Gee! Guess what happened again, guys!

But yeah, History is a bullshit class. It's completely subjective. Also, what good is knowing history? I'm a CS major, and I was required to take a history class. I still don't know why I have to know US civilization history in order to program.

CS always does seem to have unusual prerequisites. I had to take English. Like I need to know what veracity is, or what the different types of irony are, to write software? I don't know how I've been managing all this time then.

It's still better than years and years ago, where people were *REQUIRED* to read a certain book in order to graduate from *anything*.

The book? Just some kind of paranoia on how we're using up the Earth's resources and how they'll be completely depleted by 1984 or something. And *EVERYONE* was required to read it, despite it being fundamentally incorrect.

Well, I think part of it is to make sure you can still function in a working environment. The days of "sit in a cube and cobble out programs while talking to NO ONE" are kinda over, you know?

(I myself have to take both public speaking, which is supposedly incredibly useful in the industry, and technical writing which would probably be good to know.)

I don't know why I put this here.
Myself, I take my major, then I also take an extreme amount of additional classes.

Yo hablo un poco de espanol ahora.

Ich kann Deutsch ein bisschen!

Languages, Anthropology, logic, electronics repair classes, English (enough to even minor in it), Interpersonal communications, Geography, Marketing, Piano playing, etc.

Basically, I wanna do my thing with Computer Science and Engineering, while having a smattering of everything else in case it should come up.

Of course it helps that I'm a polymath... if I wanted to specialize in any of those I could too.

Well the requiring specific expensive books part certainly hasn't changed.

This post was looking good, but it broke and went back to historical off-topicness. You were so close, Drag. Then again, there's already another thread on the subject, so... yeah.

Studying different types of arts in World History as of now (realist, neoclassical, romantic). Watched a bit of Fantasia/Fantasia 2000 to determine the selected piece's (along with its animation) "type".

One of the sequences we watched contained topless female centaurs of a sort. ... It was a bit awkward. Then the naked babies/whatever (a la cupid, I guess) and the male centaurs, who run with their hands up to their chests (think April May from PW -- something like that. Possibly a ru--Popeye. Maybe they run like Popeye), came in.

Overall, WH today was a bit strange.

I wish I could say there was some extravagant board bug that got abused, but there wasn't.

But I can place all the blame on Firefox for today's problems! Hooray!

(And yes, it's a very valid reason.)

Firefox's "overwrite the password in the box" lead to a password getting replaced to something old, easily guessed, and basically got us hacked again, because the more secure password somebody was using got reverted.

Not to mention all the other problems. "Well, shit, I turned him into xxxxx by accident because Firefox overwrote the empty box"

Ah firefox autofill, one of the worst ideas ever.
Opera really picks up the ball on that count.

So were there any casualties, i.e. posts, threads, etc. Or are we all accounted for?

I'm sure a lot of posts were lost, but the damage was like a shotgun: scattered around like some ADD-afflicted child's toys.

It was easier just to nuke the whole thing than try to assess damage. I'd estimate about 10-20 posts lost, total.
