So, on a little goodwill mission over to Dragon Tear, a Breath of Fire site I used to hang around a lot in my younger days, I pitched the wiki out and mentioned some BoF stuff from the wiki on their forum to drum up some interest. I know there's still a couple more unused things, such as unused script.

A ripped script is here under "hidden text". I could always see if I could get in touch with the script rippers somehow to see if we can use the unused text in the game. A lot of it, interestingly, pertains to the beginning of the game, back when Ryu is with Rei and Teepo.

Barubary, who does a lot of sprite rips of BoF stuff, posted a little McNeil Ghost tidbit which he doesn't think is used. I really don't have the time in the next week to go trying to poke around in the game and find it (and it's been years since I was at the McNeil manor, and I died and then had to give the game back to my friend), so yeah.

Update! Apparently someone managed to get their hands on some original source files.

I sent this fellow a PM to see if we can get the files in our domain so we could take a look at them. This could prove to be most interesting, or just be a dud. We never know until we check it out though.

After a lengthy discussion with Rick last night, we came to the conclusion that this is probably a bootleg copy of either a demo or magazine preview disc. There's no source code on the disc, and the .EMI files predate the US retail version by only three months. Too bad.

Unfortunately, yes. It's still a proto, but it's probably not the magical money maker he thinks it's going to be.

However, I'm still trying to get him to send over all the files so we can have a look over it for ourselves. He also has a copy of Marvel Super Heroes for PS1 in the same vein, though that has even less of a chance of having something to it as it's an arcade port. :/

Let's see what happens.

Could have sworn someone a while back on Assembler was selling a close to prerelease copy of one of the BOF (I think 3) games. This might be it.

Since these are PS1 games, it's not possible to copy all the files off the disk using Windows. The free version of Alcohol 52% (among many many others) can rip PS1 disks.
