I think they do in like France and maybe other parts of Europe... I seem to recall some controversy of American horses being shipped to France and being eaten a few years back.

Horse meat is actually commonly eaten pretty much everywhere that doesn't speak English and has horses, interestingly enough.

Horse meat is actually supposed to be pretty awesome. It's got a flavor like beef with a sweeter note, apparently. It's a lot leaner than beef while having the same amount of protein. It's pretty good for you compared to beef, just like pretty much any other meat that isn't beef, like venison, kangaroo, ostrich, etc. It's kinda sad that we end up with beef filling our burgers and making our steaks.

According to Wikipedia, horse meat is really common in Switzerland. I guess they don't need horses, what with all the hills in the way

Sofi: again, I'm probably just a bit unaware, but isn't beef being weird partly related to how cows are treated? I mean if I remember right they're just filled with chemicals or whatever to try to make them grow or produce more milk
