You know, with hardcore mode, per-item-instance data, strongholds, levels, and score having meaning, I wonder how much trouble it would be for someone to turn Minecraft into a roguelike.

Seriously! Such a mode would actually end up being a blast, especially since I really could care less about the creative aspect of the game.

Isn't that essentially what the previously talked about Adventure Mode was going to be? We got the Adventure Update, yes, but I think it got brought up and then never talked of again.

I think I'd like to agree with Hydra though. I know they make maps for just such a thing, minus the randomization. Maybe that's something a couple of us could put our heads together and create sometime. I'd be game.

I saw that video the day after I started working on this.

The inspiration for it actually came from me going through my NES collection to see what I could sell and finding this game at the bottom. I remember having a lot of fun with this so I tried to recreate the VZR-5, but obviously it's different since I'm terrible at accuracy.

I'd suggest making the drill out of iron blocks, but that wouldn't work if you're not absolutely rolling in iron.

Pre-Release #4 is out.

From what I've heard, Multiplayer is buggy, as in if you die, you get shipped to the Skyworld and the computer who runs the server is always using 100% CPU on it. However, there is The End on it, but there's nothing but bright cobble, obsidian, and Endermen.

Your call on this one guys. I'd probably wait for pre5 myself.

Beta-Within-Beta-Within-Beta-Within-Beta-Within-Beta. I suppose Notch and Jeb really do believe that they need to go deeper. And I've heard that they intend to only release pre-releases until Mine-Con (unsourced). Either way, the enderdragons are partly in, you need to do some clever JAR file work to get them to spawn. And splash potions are now in the game too. Think exploding projectiles.

Yes, it is, but there isn't much there right now. Just alot of endermen and obsidian.

And for right now it is also the true "end" of Minecraft. Once you enter it in Single Player, there is no way to go back to the real world.

Yes, it is, but there isn't much there right now. Just alot of endermen and obsidian.

That sounds awesome. For some reason. I will probably not try it though since I don't want to go and backup all my settings just to test the beta.

So, technic for 1.8 is out..

And I'm disliking the tweaked recipes. I spent so much time designing an infinite diamond machine in 1.7, only to find out it doesn't work in 1.8's version because glowstone converts back to ores at a 2:1 ratio instead of a 3:2

That's... really disappointing to say the least, especially considering I wasted so much time for it.

To be fair, that was more of an exploit than anything, and with Equivalent Exchange being all about equivalence, having the iron -> glowstone conversion be unequal goes against what the mod is about. So that was the author that made that change.

I guess yeah... Still, without redstone pipes now, running a 100% self-sufficient aggregator cluster is difficult because buildcraft pipes have an RNG when stuff goes through.

Still, what about those Klein Star nerfs? First it gets nerfed, then it needs tons more diamonds to make, and then it gets nerfed again so it won't act as infinite fuel because apparently when you have enough diamonds to get a god-powered item, fueling a furnace is too much!
