Around 8:30 PM PST, the database server died for unknown reasons.

This downtime continued to 2:10 6:00 AM. Yes, nearly 6 over 10 hours later. This is unacceptable... in three days of hosting, the MySQL server has died twice, for a cumulative total of almost 7 11 hours. There was considerable packet loss as well, to the point any upload or download from the server failed.

DreamHost was recommened to me by a few people, and I had heard good things about it. But if this continues, I might have to rethink my decision to move to this host.

My support ticket on the matter is still open, even though it was submitted ten minutes after thed downtime started. This is also unacceptable.

I am getting very frustrated... if things don't settle down, I will probably end up hosting all of this on the shitty 400MHz computer next to me, because if nothing else, it's stable.

To be fair, Dreamhost never has gone like this from what I've seen. Also, the other Dreamhost-hosted sites I go on still worked perfectly fine while this site was down.

I'm not entirely sure what's going on.

When wootest first moved to dreamhost, my site wouldn't work *at ALL* for about a week. (Visiting the page gave a "http_config error" or something)
I'd say give it time, it might just need some time to "warm up" to the new site.

After that initial week of brokenness, my site worked fine ever since, except for some rare instances of downtime.

We at ParagonWiki.com used to be on DreamHost. They sucked so bad we dropped them like a red-hot set of sentient teeth. I think we're running on HostForWeb at the moment, pending a move to Wikia.

All of this confusion sucks. What hosts were Acmlm Board Incarnations 1-3 on? If it was Hostrocket then I don't understand why we all of a sudden had such a huge problem.

My apologies for the problems with your databases and sites this morning.
There was a new customer who has been now taken care of, who was
saturating the 100mbit outgoing traffic, causing some slowness as well as
mysql connections to have enough latency to sometimes fail. I will be
keeping an eye on the machine all day to make sure that we have this
resolved. From testing the sites and databases seem fine.

1 was on overclocked.org, which is gone. 2 was on Erk's server (fat chance there), and 3's server is still around, happily used by ||board

Ah well, it seems it was just a freak accident.

If you keep getting screwed over, just send them a support request to move you to another SQL server.

That's what I've done with one of mine at one point.

And I mean, I think I've been using them three years at this point.
