NOTE: This was taken off of Instructables.com

Ok, to generate a GENUINE windows error message (which happens about 5,296 times a second around the world ....)
follow these instructions.




STEP 1

Open Notepad (not wordpad)

Start->All Programs->Accessories->Notepad



STEP 2

Enter this in notepad (keep all () and quotation marks):


lol = msgbox ("TEXT GOES HERE" ,16, "TITLE GOES HERE")


Enter a message in the "text goes here" field (leave quotation marks, otherwise you will get a REAL error)

Enter a window title in the "title goes here" space



OPTIONAL

Put two lines for two popups (one appears after you click ok on the other)
Put 3 lines for 3....
ETC

Make sure there is a blank line separating the two lines
EXAMPLE

Incorrect-
linelinelineline...
linelinelineline...

Correct-
linelinelineline...

linelinelineline...




STEP 3

In Notepad, go to File-> Save As
For the save as type, choose "All Programs", and name it with an end extension of .vbs (EX: popuperrormessage.vbs)

Make sure to save it somewhere secret, but not TOO secret.



STEP 4

Change the target path of a program on your quick launch bar to the location where you saved the .vbs file.



STEP 5

Change the icon



STEP 6

Launch the shortcut, see the popup error message, and freak people out

I took a CAD class my senior year of high school (I had nothing else to do) and I remember messing around with VBScript a bit. I made a dumb 8ball, as well as the ever-popular never-ending message boxes.

I managed to get one computer to go through a bunch of different messages every time you logged on. Among them were replicas of actual errors, the always fun Amish Virus, repeating the logon message, "Format drive C:\?" with only an OK button, and various other random stupid jokes.
