That's assuming they don't live in Canada. I've never understood why ours is a month earlier

Canada was "founded" at a different time than the colonies... right? My U.S. History knowledge is slipping...

Am I the only one who really didn't care that much about History growing up? Social Sciences always tended to bore me with the drama. :\

A lot of us didn't care. My teachers were absolutely horrible at teaching it, they just droned on and on...

I hated (and I mean that very passionately) History.

History is boring, and if I have to be doomed to repeat it over and over again, so be it.

The past is the past.

I hated history until I had my World History teacher in 10th grade. I had fun in that class believe it or not.

So much I signed up for his AP World History class.

History is one of those "filler" classes. All it'll get you is your diploma, some bragging rights, and possibly a job as a librarian. I can see it being useful if you're a curator or an archaeologist, but why should we be forced to take it in college if we're studying something completely unrelated like computer science? Aren't 12 years enough?

Anyway, only year of History I enjoyed was last year, because the teacher encouraged us to bash Bush as much as we could. You can see how well that went with me

I got lucky, I guess, but I had absolutely amazing history teachers for both history classes I took in high school. I really don't like studying history very much, but my teachers made it at least tolerable for me.

Not to mention help me get a 5 on the AP exam!

Yeah, there's always prerequisites that don't seem to have anything to do with the subject. Like I need grade 12 English to go into programming? I've been doing that for a while already and have yet to find a situation where I needed to know different types of irony or the meaning of "veracity".

While I'm not going to make much of it in life, I actually enjoyed History. I just like learning about the past, especially places other than "We're number 1!" America...

I like History if I have a good teacher, and if I don't, I hate it. I also am annoyed by only learning American history, and the attitude which some of my teachers have taken on it in the past is just sickening. I also have two otherwise intelligent nuts in my class this year that are patriotic to nauseation . One actually thinks Bush is doing a good job, and refers to me as a "damn liberal" if we get into a political argument. "Puerto Rico doesn't realize that becoming a state would be good for them!" Oh god.

Canada burned down the White House once.

That's why it's white. It used to be pink.

Also, right now, our Chemistry unit in Science, has been nothing but history. I wanna do experiments damnit!

I can't wait to Electricity though, we get to build something!

This guy's got the right idea. History itself can be quite interesting, but being required to learn specific parts of it = eww no. (Granted, I did great in grade 9 history, but that's because the class was piss-easy. )

Most of my teachers -period- sucked.

And yea, having to learn something out of necessity is no fun whatsoever...but then most people wouldn't learn anything but yet because of -that- we're responsible to learn so much and cram our heads full of mostly useless general knowledge that we won't use in our lifetime.

I'd rather learn something I wanna learn anyways...kinda alleviates the whole problem of getting up to wanting to learn something since you're usually psyched to do it anyways.

Though I admit good teachers also help...I've had a grand total of...[counts on one hand] five.

Total time taken to undo latest "hack attack": 3 hours (5 AM - 8 AM)

Time breakdown:

- driving a mall-cart back to the store it came from (5:00, 30 minutes)
- playing "nuke the fountain", 15 minutes
- unloading junk from car, 5 minutes
- procrastinating, several hours
- actually fixing it, 2 minutes (more or less)

Some things probably broke (due to the weird format things are in, sigh) but in general everything is A-OK now.

Total casualties: 0 users, 0 posts
Recovery status: 99% (some posts might have broken)
