Yep, it works. Although, your previous coding didn't show words, but when you were quoted, it showed the words.

Problems:

- it's really big (layouts should ideally resize to fit your text somewhat)
- the font color is hard to read on some parts of the background
- you're missing both a closing </div> tag and a closing > bracket in your second <div>
- it's kinda...plain

I do agree that it's a little too big. Otherwise, it looks really, really nice! It's not too flashy or too boring. It's kind of minimal (which is good) and easy on the eyes.

It is very big and lacking in contrast. I'd do something like this, with a box for the text: (copying text from a random post to demonstrate)

Then again, it also feels like I've been here forever (even longer if you count all that time at Acmlm's back in the day).
