We have hourly database backups now.

Please, go on, do whatever. They're hourly.

(And stored offline on a hard drive we disconnect when they're finished downloading)

But hey, do whatever, undoing your attempts to fuck us over takes about 2 commands I have hotkeyed in SSH.

25 backups a day * (2 files @ about 6M total) + 3 other files at about 5M total = 155MB per day.

This is assuming we download everything.

More likely it'll be 11M a day, then just downloading the daily backups.

...and then downloading the hourly when something bad happens.

Database fuckery doesn't particularly mean that the FTP server was compromised, helped by not using the same passwords any more (sigh).

Whereas if the files themselves got compromised, we'd probably be heading back regardless. Yeah.
