I feel stupid now So yeah, it was $56 a gallon since there are about 4 liters in a gallon Now I'm shocked, one person spent 150$ on 10 liters (2.5 gallon) and another spend 300$ for only 20 liters (5 gallon)

That's crazy I'll be saving that link for later conversations with my friends.

It's not going to get much cheaper, it's a forgone conclusion that fuel is just going to get more and more expensive.

I'm pondering the possibility of holding out on buying a car until my first car can be electric. Within mainstream brands just beginning to market their first electric models, it's a distinct possibility. I figure that once I pass my test, I can probably rely on renting cars every now and again for visiting family and for trips, and use my bike and public transport for every other occasion.

I believe in electric. I think it's not so much electric cars that will change our lives, but a revolution in power generation and power distribution. I believe nuclear fusion reactors are within our grasp technologically, and when the time comes that we learn to harness useful energy from them we are going to need an infrastructure and economy that is capable of harnessing it. Hence, electric cars.

I have an almost religious belief in fusion power - it's such a fascinating and intoxicating possibility.

I really think we need to start reducing our reliance on fossil fuels. Hydrocarbons from plants that died millions of years ago won't last long. The world should look more into sources like hydroelectric, wind, and solar power.

I think electric cars are not the future. In addition to the obvious physical limitations, car batteries are made of lithium, and we're gonna run out of that in 60 years (and that is with the current consumption, not the yet-to-come one). Not a good idea.

But I do support alternative energy sources like hydrogen or whatever may come. It is the only way to preserve mobility in the long run.

Really it definitely is starting to seem like the whole future of civilization may rest on whether we can figure out something better than the battery technology we're using now... I've heard of some recent developments involving capacitors that could end up being an improvement, but they don't seem to be ready for consumer deployment.

€9.99(9)/L -> $14.22/L (US) -> $53.84/gallon (or whatever the exchange rate was when that happened)

Even at 10x cost (compared to here) and with a choice for cheaper (normal) gas, it looks like some people still don't think it's too expensive


It's currently around $1.35/L here, or $5.25 US/gallon ... it went up quite a bit in the last few months, but I usually don't notice much since I don't drive either

You'd probably be surprised by the amount of crazy things that are possible in a lab that just simply aren't viable economically on a larger scale.

There is an incredible amount of tech out there that would solve a lot of problems, the issue is that it's way too expensive to be economical to make and use.
