Fuck 'em. Seriously it's $3.99 a gallon by my house, but well over $4.00 in most places anyway. That's fucking ridiculous. I have an uncle who hasn't owned a car since he was 19, because he stopped driving all together when gas went over one dollar. He still says he won't drive one until it goes back to the way it used to be. Though he lives in Chicago now, so he really doesn't need one anymore. Still, it's getting crazy, and it will only get crazier. How high is gas where you guys are?

Discuss.

Yeah, those high gas prices get on my nerves. What's even more annoying is when they change the prices in the middle of the day by some significant amount (I'm talking about 40 cents in the most extreme cases), so it's a lottery where you either get the jackpot or lose your money (in a literal sense).

Petrol where I live varies between $1.30 and 1.60 a litre depending on on the time of day/day of the week. (Apparently that converts to about $5-6 a gallon).

It's pretty expensive, especially as an Australian we have looooong commute distances. Kinda glad I only drive occasionally, although public transport is horrid too :|

It hasn't affected me; I have no car.

Public transit from Philly to DC has gotten a tiny bit more expensive, but it's still not bad.

Gas prices are more like $4.30 here, which is terrible.

I'm gonna be living on-campus and don't have a car though, so it's kind of irrelevant to me.

Although I'm not directly affected (because I can't drive yet ), I have noticed the sky high gas prices. And supposedly, they're supposed to continue going up. Oil really affects everything; things that have to be shipped (which is pretty much every product), things that are made from oil (gas, plastic), among other things. It's a shame that it has gone so high.

I'm carless, so it doesn't affect me, either. It affects my dad and his ridiculously long commute a lot, though.

And I remember when gas was around 80-99 cents a gallon, then it went up to like $1.50 and I thought that was high. Only about 10 years ago, too. Wow, I'm old.

Gas prices are in the $4-ish range. It only affects me in that I have a five minute commute to my second job via the truck. I don't really have to fill the car up all that much, but the truck is a gas guzzler and I'm trying to avoid putting more gas into it than I need to, so it's probably just getting $20 fill-ups when it gets to maybe 1/8th of a tank and that's about it until the price eases up.

How much is SEPTA nowadays? I haven't been on one (bus, trolley, train) in ages.

There's a nearby spot where gas is $4.08 at one station, and across the street it's $3.99. Um.

We lived in Oklahoma in 1998 when gas was at its lowest for me. It got down to $0.69 per gallon at one station! Fill up on our 23 gallon van was only $16! It wasn't really until 2001-2002 that prices started to skyrocket. I remember seeing them here in Vegas going from $1.60/$1.70 to $2.00+ almost over night. They would keep going up $0.05 to $0.10 almost every weekend or every other weekend.

Friday I filled up at $3.79, for my 17 gallon car it was $61.00 since it was not quite empty. Granted that will last us 2 weeks but I don't want to have to keep paying an extra $1 every time we fill up. It was just last year that $40 would fill up our car and now only one year later we're back to where we were in 2007.

I'm almost ready to stop driving our car unless absolutely necessary. I'll ride a bike to work and we'll only go to stores within a few blocks of our house. We have Wal-Mart, Target, Vons (groceries), and Walgreens all within about 4 blocks. We could survive off that. And movie theaters only 2 blocks away. The furthest we would need to travel is about 16 miles 4 times a week for my wife's school. If we did all that, a full tank could probably last us about 3 weeks or more.

I think the normal fare is $2, but I usually only take the route to Philly which goes through two zones + transfer to the blue line = $3.50 or $3 ($3.50 if you pay it on a bus, or $3 if you pay it on a ticket booth)

Thanks to megabus, I've been to DC for less than that.

It sucks for all of my friends who would rather drive to the end of the street instead of walk.

Me? I make walking across town part of the fun of the day!

I can't drive a car ever, so it doesn't apply to me. Also, I'm afraid of public transportation so raise in fare isn't too applicable either.Maybe shipping costs are applicable. I walk places or get rides.

Everytime I walk past the elementary school, I see the mothers drive their children to school in those big fat SUVs. That always trips me up. Have they forgotten how to walk?

(Slightly off topic) Should I be bothered to learn how to drive when I can get around London for practically free with my freedom pass (with a bit of walking to Buses and The Underground).

About $4.85 per gallon where I live. Thankfully, I don't travel long distances, or I would be screwed.

It's like $4.40 where I am, about. Shit's crazy, and I kinda think this would be another reason why mom wouldn't want me to drive. Luckily, I have a little thing my parents don't called 'money'.

So I told her and agreed to split gas money whenever I'm driving (like, when I'd be going for things like milk and such)

But I still say I can't afford stuff and such so I can literally trick myself. Though I'm wondering how well I'll be able to manage a $100 a month personal allowance from my account...

I sort of have the same thing back around my old college town.

In Bangor, the local buses there waive the fee if you show them your MaineCard (University of Maine ID). Needless to say, I have kept this for just such an occasion and no one cares if I'm a student or not. >:3

I also get a $5 discount when I travel on a particular coach bus line in the area too, so it comes in extra handy.

You are recommended to use CSS to specify the font and
properties such as its size and color. This will reduce
the size of HTML files and make them easier to maintain
compared with using <FONT> elements.

You are recommended to use CSS to control line wrapping.
Use "white-space: nowrap" to inhibit wrapping in place
of inserting <NOBR>...</NOBR> into the markup.
