It's been almost a week (tomorrow) since I started learning Mandarin ... I'm at around 100 hanzi and I can say basic things, I can count to 100, I know basic colors, I can answer/ask questions such as "how are you?" and "what are you doing?" (depending on what I'm doing ). I can understand quite a bit from simple songs (like 老鼠爱大米 ) but usually only if I have the lyrics (the hanzi - the pinyin is useless)

I guess it was a successful week ... let's see how I'm doing by next week.

I wasn't really wearing much when I made that post. I went out in shorts today, though, and it's pretty awesome. I love 60°F weather. I don't think I've really had a chance to wear shorts until now either!

I got a lot done today compared to the past few days. The kitchen is now totally clean and the dishes are all nice and neat and I also got to listen to a LP I've been holding off on. I just need to wait for Tumblr to go back online so I can submit my write-up on it and then maybe tomorrow I can play some more Earthbound or finally see that Tarkovsky film I've been meaning to see forever. Or finish reading those Bret Easton Ellis novels, both of them.

I can make a super-delicious scrambled-egg-hash-brown-buttered-toast-sausage-and-sautéed-grape-tomatoes breakfast and then do some errands and maybe browse the local record stores or hit the local Barnes & Noble or the library and just sit there, reading.

This morning sucked but I have great prospects for the rest of the weekend. I feel pretty fucking gosh-darn excited about it. : J
